safe vs aggressive laning

so i had the (dis)pleasure of playing with a gragas the other day. who was some smurf on his plat account or something and was under the impression that im a garbage player because i play safe. i have gotten to where i am today in elo by doing EXACTLY that, and nothing else. ever. i hate just playing like a monkey. i wait, i watch, i observe my enemy and only whenever they make a massive blatant fuckup do i even TRY to go aggressive onto them. this isnt to say i dont poke. but i dont get myself killed just to q something with gp you know?

he told me im never going to get into diamond by playing like that. he said im never going to carry playing like that (a obvious as hell lie considering how consistently well i do as gp with this strat)

so lets get some other opinions. which is better?

Well GP has always been a really good scaling champion for one. I can't see why you would try to aggressively 1v1 early on in a lane.

Imho the thing that seperates a good laner from a bad laner is a laner that has faith in their junglers ability to make shit happen. A good laner saves important cooldowns and knows how and when to queue spells up for good chain CC and synergy with their jungler.

Something you need to know in order to win more games is when to force a fight For example as GP, you could always ult an out of position ADC, and then land a barrel on them to have the divers on your team get a free kill This will obviously make the enemy team have to fight, but not after their ADC lost 50% of their hp

Yeah it's a completely legit playstyle to have. I do the same thing myself.

Play smart, not for KDA.
