Help a noob. How do you beat cho'gath mid?

I know ganks are good because of his lack of escapes and mobilities, but is there anything else that is good against him?

Pick a champ that is capable of dodging rupture easily and doesn't require snowballing with kills to win lane. Cho doesn't really lose lane because of his sustain, but his lategame damage falls off quite heavily and his teamfight is average at best. Match his farm in lane, don't feed him kills, outroam him in the midgame, participate in teamfights and you'll be a lot more useful than cho is.

If you want recommendations I would say - Orianna, Ahri, Xerath, Ezreal, Corki, Nidalee, Vladimir and Swain are all very good picks vs him. He has a large hitbox once he has stacks making skillshots easy to land, his ult does true damage so stacking health (Swain/Vlad) is very efficient. And range/mobility/teamfighting are easy ways to counterpick cho in.

If you can't directly beat him, beat his team.

Actually , you don't. Cho'gath is pretty stupid nowadays because of mana regen nerfs and his sustain is nearly unmatched. He also scales like a monster. Ban him. If you can't, cry

play basically any champ who can kite him. With an AP build, you need to watch out for him combining rupture, feast, and scream, because that you burst you down real quick.

Cho also lacks any real sustained damage.

I play brand :) the % dmg dealt from his passive works rather well with cho :)

Play champions that would beat him in top lane.

Nothing changed about him, he just switched lanes.

Roam a bit and beat him lategame. Assasins tend to do poorly against him, but longer-range mages have an advantage.

Pick a mage that can handle high hp targets, or team fights well, then try not to die in lane and only farm. Brand seems to have the best win rate against Cho.

deny him farm as much as possible. use a ranged champion, or use a champion that has a hard engage, and just constantly poke and bully him.

try to avoid using melee champs. the only "gap" closer he has is his q so once he wastes that or you dodge it just be agressive (early) since it has a pretty high cooldown.

build mr and you'll be fine. avoid close encounters when he reaches lvl 6. remember his ult does true damage

I like Vlad against him, you have better harass and equally cheesy sustain and you can blood pool his rupture on reaction if you're not silenced.

Also consider move speed quints and early boots. Movement speed makes landing Q REALLY hard for cho. Also if you're ranged, make him pay for every single minion. If you're 60% or below after 6, consider playing passively. He's fairly weak to ganks so a lot of it is up to your jungler, like the rumble or darius matchup.
