Don't blame urf for dropoff, many of my friends quit due to FOMO burnout

GET THE SEASON PASS BOYS, GRIND GAMES BOYS, GET THAT GOLD RIVEN SKIN

OH WAIT THAT EVENT IS OVER GET THE NEW SEASON PASS, GET THAT GOLDEN VAYNE SKIN BOYZ

OH NOW THAT THAT EVENT IS OVER HERE BUY ANOTHER SEASON PASS BOYZ

Meanwhile....

Balance is out of wack, all the skins are going to the same champs, top lane is rotting, mid lane is rotting, bot lane is rotting, everything 1shots everything else but due to different speeds of execution of the 1shot combo certain champions are just 10000% better

Meanwhile.....

"anxiety that an exciting or interesting event may currently be happening elsewhere, often aroused by posts seen on a social media website."

i aint even know what FOMO was untill 30 seconds ago buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut kinda.... i guess its kinda true, more like event AFTER event non stop not so much at the same time in a different place but i get where u coming from

I would agree, these event passes this year have been completely burning me out, and I was pretty upset Riot nearly hit us with them back-to-back-to-back-to-back. Like there was almost no down time in between. This wasn't even like a phone game where you can play for like 30 min to 1 hour a day and get what you need daily from the event - NNOOOOOOOOO. These events DEMAND you invest hours and hours and hours and hours of gameplay into them to earn peanuts so you can GET THE CONTENT YOU'VE ALREADY PAID FOR. It's shitty that you have to work so hard AFTER paying into it, and you might not even get the skin that's the prize. At that point, why the fuck even bother with the event pass? Just buy the normal version of the skin for less and call it a day.

All of those other problems existed before urf, wouldn't be hard to differentiate players quitting over other elements vs players quitting over specifically urf.

I guess I just dont really get this one.

ive had FOMO for stuff, but never for League. The only thing you "miss" out on is cosmetics. And while I like skins, I absolutely will not get stressed out about whether I will miss a skin that is around for a limited time.

I highly doubt a majority of people who drop off would cite the event passes as their reason.

On another game where I now recognise this exact problem, the trick to it is to force yourself to miss out for the first quarter of the event. I'm a Maplestory player and aside from repetitive daily chores quests that take up to an 30 mins to an hour per character, we have events that force extra grinding for special event rewards. I intentionally missed out on a few days to make it impossible for me to complete, then I could comfortably quit knowing I did not have to do the events anymore and just continue with my usual 1 hour routine (instead of it becoming 2-3 hours).

That said, a few months/years down the line when my friends flex those rewards at me, there is a tinge of regret.

Except URF fallout has been happening since URF came out before we had rapid fire events, before most people complaining (despite the fact that people have always complained) that these latest seasons are shit, before we got to this 'one shot' meta.

Most of my friends quit URF because it stopped being fun seeing the same champions every game, then there are of course some of them who are part of the problem and still play who do nothing but pick the most OP champs every game so to them it remains fun.

I don't get compulsive spending, you don't like what you got, but you spent anyways.

This is indicative of a larger problem, consult a therapist.
