How to lower your MMR?

My MMR is about 150 points higher than where I am placed. This means that overall, the rest of my team is going to be 150 MMR lower than the enemy team, since the game tries to balance. The result is often that me and a bunch of Bronze 3's & 4's are matched against Silver 3's and 4's. I'm not very good at carrying (I'm working on it, I think I'm improving) so my win rate is stuck at about 50% (it makes for a very slow climb).

Is there any way I can lower my MMR? Or do I have a fundamental misunderstanding of how this works? Is there any benefit of having high MMR?

Thanks for your time!

nobody knows your MMR except riot themselves, sites like lolking only have an estimate MMR calculation

you cannot lower it except by losing games, at which point you will also get less lp for wins and more lp lost for losses

you climb faster the higher your mmr is than the average in your division.

if you're 150 points over your current division, you should be getting a lot more LP for wins than you lose for losses. For example my mmr is a lot higher than my rank right now, and I get around 30-32 points for a win, and only lose around 7 for losses. If your MMR is high enough, you can actually skip divisions, like you can go from b4 to b2, b3 to b1, etc. You just can't skip past division 1, or division 5. So potentially with high enough mmr you could go b2>b1>s5>s3>s1 etc

First of all, according to OP.gg, your MMR is in tuned with other people in your division. So no, you are not that good.

Secondly, if you really had an mmr 150 above your given division, you would be matched with people 150 mmr above your division.

If a bronze 3 had bronze 1 mmr, he would play with bronze 1 players.
