Taric's stun duration should be longer on closer enemies

Taric's stun has always had that awkwardly useless part where the damage increases insignificantly based on the distance it travels. I've never been sure why; seeing as Taric is supposed to be a tanky, in-your-face kind of support, as shown by his two AoE spells and on-hit passive, it seems counter-intuitive to reward him for "landing" a targeted stun from a long distance, especially when the reward is so small that I don't think anyone's ever actually accounted for it when they're playing.

Since Taric is supposed to be a close range support, I think his stun should have increased duration when it travels short distances. This allows Taric's stun to have a little more strength for following up on cc'd targets and peeling without giving it too much power for making picks and brawling in lane. This also allows for a little more counterplay, since carrying the stun out once you're targeted with a dash/blink will not only move you to safety, but decrease the duration.

The damage actually increases the closer the enemy is to Taric, meaning a point blank stun actually deals about twice as much as a max range stun, which is actually very thematically relevant because being dazzled by a bright light would hurt you eyes more if it were right in your face.

I like your idea though, but it probably isn't all that significant at this point, since they are working on his rework right now (he was the project that was running alongside Ryze (just released today) and Poppy (to be released later on in the year). That fact makes me think he'll probably be coming out within the next couple of months if everything goes according to Riot's schedule.

The sad thing about his stun is the further away the champion, the less the duration of the stun is... That's why it can go up to 1.8 seconds at max but reduces to (at most) half its duration the further they are (0.9 seconds).

You might be thinking of the travel time of Taric's stun. It is meant to take a while and it should be the same 1.5sec on everyone unless they have Tenacity, which will reduce the stun by a percentage of said tenacity. Irelia Has innate Tenacity and gains more when surrounded. The Mastery tree in the Defense area has tenacity as well I think.

Ironically it used to stun longer the further an enemy was.

Ah the time of the Taric 2 second stun (paired with a Sion, naturally).

Well the Dazzle in Taric is emmited by the bright light of his Shield so have a lot of sense that the stun have more duration if are hitted in a nearly positionm For example.

MINIMUM STUN DURATION: 0.8 / 0.9 / 1 / 1.1 / 1.2 s MAXIMUM STUN DURATION: 1.6 / 1.8 / 2 / 2.2 / 2.4 s MINIMUM MAGIC DAMAGE: 40 / 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 (+ 20% AP) MAXIMUM MAGIC DAMAGE: 80 / 140 / 200 / 260 / 320 (+ 40% AP)

So the stun and magic damage are increases the closer the target is to Taric (up to 200%).

On the future rework of Taric this need to be a fact!

You need to stay very close to put the max duration stun, so its a risk with a reward ...

"To compensate for this truly outrageous Taric buff we're also making Taric's stun a skillshot.

We think this will separate an average Taric from a great Taric."

-Patch 5.8 Taric changes

Well I think that they keep the "point click" because its one of the few skill that can catch Kalista easy

I don't know, your comment set the bar pretty high...

I think it should be the opposite considering the game's mobility creep.

Taric's stun should be longer the farther you are away from him.

So those pesky Lucian Graves Caitlyn Es still leave you an opportunity to fight back.

Disengaging in this game is way too easy.

His stun should charm Ezreal and Varus .

This would make him quite strong in the top lane. I already smash as top Taric this would make me smashe more lol. Max that w then q then e

It's a point and click stun, it's already powerful enough and should be the last thing you'd want to buff on Taric. I'd just wait for his eventual rework at this point and see what they'll do with him overall.

Or maybe you meant that it would last shorter than it currently does on targets that are further away from you? Pointless change overall I feel.

Because Taric is incentivized to throw down his skills in a Ryze-like rhythm to decrease all of his cooldowns (even his ult!), a buff to his stun duration is the last thing he needs. It would simply make him too powerful to combat. Mind you, he already has incredible bursting power and functions as an anti-assassin tank (On even footing, Taric can out damage Master Yi). His strength is having a small, yet deadly range of power in a fashion not so different from brawlers like Trundle, Darius, or Garen. Unlike any of them, however, he doesn't have a grab (Darius), a speed boost (Garen), or some even ground between the two (Trundle). The only thing he has to close the gap is his stun, which only gives him enough time, even at max level, to run in, maybe get shatter off, and that's it. A smart player is not going to stick around long to allow Taric to burst them into oblivion.

So what should Taric's dazzle be replaced with? I don't know. It wouldn't make much sense for him to be leaping around the Rift like Braum, and his short range of bursting power would make any kind of speed boost too overpowered for him and fit poorly with his gems theme (besides, that's what Righteous Glory is for). One idea I had was to give him an obstacle/slow ability like Trundle's Ice Pillar, obstructing the enemy's movement and allowing him to close the gap while also giving the target a chance to either continue escaping or dig their heels in and stand their ground.

I main Taric supp top or jungle and this would be too op. Believe me. Even without 40% CDR it would pretty much keep someone permastunned.

Taric needs a rework, plain and simple. He doesn't have the mobility to be an in-your face guy and his stun hardly lasts long enough to walk to the opponent when you get it.

V1.0.0.125 "Stun duration is now always 1.5 seconds from ranging between 1 and 2"

It was changed from that to what it is now.
