New runes could do with some tuning but they're pretty good at the moment.

They allow for a lot more in class variety than the old mastery system IMO. I can probably play 3x as many midlaners now than I could a few patches ago just off raw viability, and I've seen a lot more on both teams as well.

Sure there are some abuse cases but that's pretty much what preseason is for.

Besides, Lux and Xerath are actually champions again, because having kill pressure as people who aren't the AD exists now.

Xerath was never bad and he is banned quite a lot in competitive now.

Pretty broken right now if you ask me.

Uh...?

He was hot garbage almost the entirety of season 6 because poke damage is useless when it gets shielded/healed up. The only other thing he brought to the table is a weak stun and that's clearly not enough to be a good champion in a meta like that. r u ok?

Not too okay... kind of frustrated of what Riot did to Ahri. Well back to the point.

He has the ability to stay in lane for a very long time due to his passive, and now the sorcery runes gives him even more power in lane.

What made Xerath... Xerath is his ability to participate in teamfights with his huge range. He also has amazing scaling while having great mid game as well.

Xerath does indeed bring huge amount of poke damage, but in lane of midlane, there aren't many champs that can heal the damage taken through pokes like Ahri(though one of her lowest winrate in midlane is actually Xerath according to stats), in fact her lowest winrate is from Xerath with 46.1% winrate.

So, in lane he was already quite strong, and even safe because of his passive and long range poke and wave clear potential.

Xerath is definetly better, I am not denying that, but to say he was not a champ before is quite a stretch for a champ who has a lot of damage and strengths with very little weakness.

Statistically speaking, Ahris is right. Xerath may not have been a top 5 pick, but he had a decent win rate, while being a fairly safe pick due to his long range. Now he is very strong, even oppressive, in game. Although he is not the worst offender since Malzahar exists as both the best mid and top laner right now as far as win rate is concerned...

really depends on the rune. Dark harvest needs to be nerfed on ARAM and buffed on summoners rift. Comet needs to land faster as it's easy to dodge. Aftershock could use some tuning down because if a tank is on you and able to proc it, chances are the tank is already out sustaining. klepto might needs some tuning down also because it encourages less farm and more poking. Frankly I think the whole inspiration tree is a bit much atm. Umm that's about it because I don't use any other runes.
