So, i've been a rank 7 Tahm Kench for a while, but i put him down after all the nerfs. i want to pick him back up again, but i hear nothing but negative things about him, and his stats on websites aren't too pretty. Let's be honest, is he really that bad right now? Yea, sure, he can't deal as much damage, but he is tanky af, has a crippling ranged slow, and the best rescue mechanic in the game.
thoughts? I'm trying to justify maining Tahm again. Help me out ^_^
I take him support and his devour is really good for keeping your carries from getting caught out.
If the enemy has a delayed combo or long-duration CC (i.e. Morgana, Lux, Elise, Ashe), he can be exceptionally powerful. due to his ability to protect the target.
I probably wouldn't use him as a standard pick, but he is a good situational pick if his niche is required.
I prefer him top lane where I can take on champions like Darius, Yasuo, and Camille pretty easily. You'd be surprised what the Kench can do alone.
I will say that the current meta is having the support either be the carry (zyra, brand, Karma) or protecting a strong carry (anyone that can build redemption). Most of the redemption buyers are mages but Tahm is the one Tank that can really do the hard protecting without having to buy that item. So if your carry will be able to actually carry then Tahm can win games.
Tahm Kench support is actually very good against an enemy pick comp, but the rest of your team needs to be ready to engage quickly once the enemy pick fails. Other than that, Tahm isn't much better than any other tank support at the moment. Hes not that tanky anymore. The grey health nerfs really took the stick out of his lick.
