I go 12/10/16 take down several towers and I get a B-. My ally goes 3/5/8 takes no towers and he gets an S-. I'm confused because to me it honestly seems like the system is either garbage or completely random.

Poppy seems to be the easiest champion to get an S on quite literally. So if you want a free chest, go play some Poppy.
Netting a a 3-0-0 KDA will get you an S maybe, I'm over exaggerating but it doesn't take a big KDA with poppy like some other champions.

Zane Zephyr1 votesYou are being graded against everyone that played that specific champion in that specific role, and your grade reflects on how you performed over a certain percent of everyone else that is being graded against.
That's why if you do weird things like take leona top or Jayce jungle and even do decent, you'll most likely get an S since there's a smaller size to compare against.
