A random reminder that hextech chests from ARAM are random...

Does it really need to be that random? I didn't get chest for this:

But the Corki somehow did. Aaaand. I had recently a game as LeBlanc where I was like 8/6 or so with barely anything useful done, getting carried and somehow got chest from that. Y tho?

Then I am sitting here with 35 keys listening to some folks on Boards being like "How do you even have so many keys, I get chest like every week". And this game was even total rare stompfest, after I got stomped several times.

I feel like to acquire chest I need to sacrifice a unicorn or have planets give me random blessing. And even then it will probably drop some useless champ shard.

I wouldn't say it's random, but it's certainly frustrating and unintuitive when the grading algorithm requires encourages you to selfishly take every minion and champion kill.

"Not enough CS, and not enough gold" is probably your issue in that particular game.

Well grades compare you to all performances on the same champion (in the same mode), so different champs are going to have wildly different grading standards, and you need to be in the top X% of performances to get an S grade.

ARAM standards are prone to have pretty high variance since a lot is going to hinge on the comps involved. The best performances are gonna be ones where that champ basically counters the entire enemy team, and you're additionally free to snag a good chunk of the cs for yourself (i.e. teammates have crappy waveclear), so 'typical' comps are going to have a hard time for anyone getting an S. On the other hand, some champs are pretty poor at teamfighting (and/or have a lot of people bad at playing them) so doing 'ok' can still be enough to squeeze out an S-. The requirements for different champs can be all over the place sometimes, but hopefully that can give some insight into how they come to be that way, rather than actually being random.

minions are like 90% of the score. You can feed all game but as long as you have retardedly big minion-count, you will get an S.

Also my biased anti-ADC part o myself still thinks ADCs get a leeway with the score "oh look, the guy played like shit, but he's an ADC, okay Gorge, give him an S- cause he tried." "Oh look, than bruiser did super good in his lane and pretty much solo-rambo-won that game for the team? Oh and his stats are amazing. Here, have an A- for effort"

I feel like to acquire chest I need to sacrifice

... money. It's a system that wants you to spend money. It only baits you with "look, free chests, so easy, just do good with your champ" when in truth the system is designed in a way to only work with few cases while rest is worth half a shit.

LeBlanc is literally the worst champion in ARAM. All you have to do is win the game with a positive KDA and you instantly get an S.

ARAM uses the same algorithm as normal games do but for ARAM.

You're essentially competing with average scores of others.

That's why you can go 30-3 on Xerath and not get an S.

did you get a chest on morg yet this season?

Its once per champ every season.

No, I didn't. The thing is I didn't get S- but A+. While in the game with LeBlanc I did much worse and got S-. Smh.

Because CS > Kills/Deaths even in ARAM.

Asterfix1 votes

Yeah IDK if you CAN get chests from ARAM. IDK I don't play ARAM that much.

Tormentula2 votes

you can, its just a lot harder because 1 person has to get an S and nobody knows what they're doing + the standard of S ranks go up really high in ARAM since CS, KP, and KDA are very inconsistent.

You should have more CS, I think that's what held you back from an S.
