Why all the sudden hate for flash?

So, between here and reddit, it seems like suddenly 5% of the players hate flash? Doing it for the memes or what kids?

Flash is okay, its by no means broken, it has a longer cooldown than any ability in the game, its easy to track flash times, If they use it to get you in one fight its safe to say they wont have it for the next, The distance on flash is also pretty terrible, Pretty sure Aatrox dash is a better gap closer.

Point of the post, Stop bitching about flash, you have the exact same runes and spells at your disposal as a summoner, you cant blame flash for Shen taunt flashing you, you can only blame yourself for letting yourself be got. You cant blame flash for a wild Tryndamere jumping on your face, you can only blame yourself for face checking that bush, you cant blame flash for that Sion flash q pentakill, you can only blame yourself for not flashing out yourself.

moral of the story, flash isn't broken, you just suck. Adapt, Outplay, overcome.

Flash on Annie is a helluva lot different than Flash on DianaEkko or some such. Giving champions with already near infinite gap closers yet another gap closer, or safety that they wouldn't otherwise have.

For other champions, Flash is all they have, and Annie is a great example of that. She'd be relegated to waiting in unwarded bushes without it.

There is certainly a valid argument on Flash, in specific cases, making champions more oppressive than they already are or otherwise would be. In the reverse, there is an argument that Flash is vital for the balance of some champions that would be useless without it. A Summoner ability having that level of influence should, at least, be subject to a discussion on how healthy it is.

If Exhaust had a 99% attack speed slow, 99% damage reduction, 99% movement speed slow and 97.7% of the playerbase was using it... You wouldn't be using this 'fight fire with fire, you all suck' argument. Why is Flash immune to criticism? Exhaust and Ignite have been nerfed several times with no complaint.

You say Flash is okay, yet you bring no real arguments to start with. Yes, its CD is high, but that applies to most Summoner Spells. And in no way it is comparable to an Aatrox E since it is an INSTANT BLINK, not a dash with travel speed and limited by WALLS. Heck, Flash blinks you double its Range over specific walls.

And you talk about instances of Flash being used, yet you don't mention that almost every champion uses Flash EVERY GAME. You could argue that Flash is balanced if it was used only by aforementioned champions, but that isn't the truth. Based on League of Graph's statistics in Plat+, Flash has at least 97.7% Pick Rate currently (and the situation gets worse as you get higher). And the funny thing is that whenever Teleport or Ignite reach half its Pick Rate, they are automatically nerfed because they make the game "unfun".

Overall I got used to the fact that Flash pretty much is a part of the game as much as Recall. It pretty much warped the game around it and had multiple champions balanced with it in mind. If you consider it balanced despite it being picked almost EVERY GAME by ALL champions, all I can tell you is to reanalyse the matter :)

Edit: I really like this argument:

for that Sion flash q pentakill, you can only blame yourself for not flashing out yourself.

You basically tell me that if I don't use the thing that I'm supposed to counteract, then I'm screwed. Telling me to fight fire with fire doesn't really make the fire any less dangerous.

Yeah same question.. this late in the game, getting rid of flash would be like getting rid of inhibitors. It's baked into the game balance, champion design, a decade worth of meta and muscle memory.. everything. Removing it is infeasible on a level that makes new runes seem like a worlds hotfix.

What streamer got flash-combo'd on and started this meme?

believe it or not there was a time where even riot was considering taking flash out the game, since outside of very specific champions, it was(and still is) auto pick on everyone, and at that time riot i believe wanted the summoner spell system to be more diverse then flash+x

i can blame flash for all those things
