Would Overwatch style of play work in League?

Hear me out.

The central concept of Overwatch is that everyone has a unique kit (LoL: check, or at least they try), but everyone has pretty much the same ability to nuke the entire enemy team given the right circumstances. You have way less health, you die more often, but you spawn much quicker. no items, no builds, but your ultimate charges based on the damage (or healing) you do.

Personally, I find Overwatch insanely fun. The only thing I miss about League is the somewhat darker and deeper lore and the strategy involved in different builds. I know its still an Apples to Oranges comparison in a lot of ways, but I feel like there are enough similarities to legitimately ask the question.

What if your ult charged off of damage/healing done? What if death timers were a static 10 seconds? What if your ult could actually 100-0 the entire team? What if games lasted only ~15-25 minutes?

Part of the reason I love Overwatch is that it is way harder for me to get tilted. Yeah, maybe my teammates suck, maybe I suck, maybe we loose really hard. But because the game is so short and it throws me into the next one so quickly, its water under the bridge. Plus, it helps that everything about the game is so UPBEAT. Music, characters, I mean, Tracer is literally the embodiment of "cheerful".

The other thing I like about overwatch is that, yes, maybe it's OP that Reaper can eliminate the entire team, but SO CAN PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE.

When everyone is OP, no one is.

What would happen if League was like that?

Ult-reliant champions would struggle, Vladimir would start spamming his ult and there would be an enormous mobility creep.

It would require enormous rebalancing.

Most Supports in Overwatch can't eliminate entire other teams, (not without serendipitous circumstances, bad players or excessive exertion of skill) and that's even less plausible in League.

If champions receive damage boosts to simulate Overwatch damage values, tanks would be much more useless, the assassin meta would be back, and games would stall longer as deaths mean so much less.

Basically, the entire meta would become Mobility-centric, enormous class imbalance, (not everyone would be op, not by a long shot) and every champion would need to be reworked from the ground up because they have no builds to support them. There would no longer be early-mid-late game, and not really any snowballing at all, leading to most towers meaning so much less. The game would revolve around baron and dragon buffs.

It would not be League.

The changes you're proposing would fundamentally change LoL into a different game. Implementing them would also literally be creating another game from a programming and game design perspective.

Cool to think about in regards to brainstorming minor ideas to make LoL more engaging (URF mode is half way to what you're describing), but I don't see Riot ever realistically pursuing such a path in the near future.
