Snowballining, comebacks and match durations.
Today i stumbled upon this thing that had some infographics. Pics below.
The thing that i want you to see is - Winrate by first and Match durations.
With introduction of first tower gold, winrate for teams that took it first has grown by whooping 2% to 71-72% In season 6 (differs depending on patch). And eventually to 73% That we have now.
Drakes on the other hand got a bit less impactful. Only 1% difference but its there. Im not sure if its due to the nature of elemental drakes that came in season 6 when impact from first drake started to drop or from the fact that it became possible to make more impact by doing something else. Though i guess first drake itself never made much of impact. Its a question of whom dominated that part of the map at that moment and was able to take drake due to that. So its possible that that drake isnt cause of advantage but evidence of one.
First baron grew more impactful for 1-2% from the previous seasons. I guess it due to the fact that with that insane damage going on, people became able to take him earlier and therefore he got more beneficial. Allowing for more additional advantage or even to close the game. Or snowballs got harder to stop.
First inhib and first blood numbers remaining completely unchanged for 4 years.
Game durations though changed a lot during those years. Compared to previous season they look really bad. It got really shorter. But compared to seasons 6 and 5 numbers dont look that bad. They are veery similar. To be honest season 5 numbers look much more snowbally.
TLDR - Comebacks were never easy. Yes it got a bit harder to comeback but only a tiny bit. For 4 years numbers changed almost negligibly little. Game durations grew shorter but it didnt affect numbers at all. In season 7 when game durations were MUCH longer people still were able to comeback the same percentage of times as now. If people got advantage they kept it. And i personally prefer it that way. Imagine if you were playing football (also known as soccer) and due to some insane rule team that were behind in score would be getting more points compared to the leading for every ball they score depending on how badly they are behind. For example if you are 0 - 3, you would get 2 points. If you are 0 - 5. 3 points. Sounds like extremely idiotic bullshit, right?.. RIGHT?
So... My Question - why people keep saying that league became super snowbally and almost imposible to comeback?
