Your Opinions on the Juggernaut Garen.(No hate please)

Well yeah it's mad late but I just want to hear the opinions of other players(preferable a mix of Garen and Non Garen players) on the Garen rework. I don't normally play Garen and anytime I have to face once I tend to ignore him because most of the time it's pointless(the link is some bit of proof) because he still comes crashing through your team, so I focus on shut downing the other lanes to give my side some footing. However when the time comes to deal with that Garen it's just not worth the effort to try and fight him seeing as how tanky he is and how much damage he can do. His new ult passive is dumb to me. Why punish players for getting a kill by allowing them to get hit with a true damage ult that on it's own does a pretty decent amount of damage. You can argue that Garen has to get to your carries to kill them but with the new items that have been released it's not hard. I mean there's an item that gives a lot of armor and build MS over time and when you attack something the extra MS buffs the next AA. Paired with his Q and the spin Garen can easily and effortlessly get to your carries and lay them down. Focusing him allows the enemy team to slay you faster and ignoring him isn't an option. Yeah I know I'm gonna get comments saying you're bad or other junk like that but that's expected as is the down votes everyone who tries to make a valid discussion about anything in this game recieves but I just want MORE people to understad that Garen is strong, possibly too strong. Leave your opinions in the comments and again Please no Hate.

I don't have any problem with the juggernauts. If they want to tone them down a bit that's fine. But I see them as melee carries. They're tanky and do damage but have no little or no CC (except for Darius Darius pull and slows... that kind of defeats the concept). In the same way that the enemy ADC is central to fights because they have the highest sustained damage output, I see juggernauts in a similar light. For the past few seasons, the meta regarding team fights can be summed up as "protect our ADC, kill the enemy ADC", and every other role was based around that (tanks and supports peel for friendly ADC, assassins dive enemy ADC). Garen Garen can't peel because he has no CC, and he also doesn't have the same kind of mobility you would expect from an assassin, and despite his dueling potential he isn't a good splitpusher. Instead, he is like a carry: If he can survive while spinning through the enemy team, he will have a huge impact, but if he gets kited or killed, he will have no impact. It's kind of a refreshing new meta IMO. Kiting and CC can counter juggernauts in theory. Team compositions and strategies will simply have to be developed with the juggernauts in mind. Juggernauts seem OP right now because people don't respect their raw power and aren't used to their place in the meta.

A few points I would make regarding the Video.

I don't really mind if Juggernauts have the same tankyness as tanks. On the grounds, that it doesn't make them do the tanks job better. Cause if that happens, Tanks will disappear from the meta again. Generally, I believe that Juggernauts gain DPS where Tanks get Burst and CC. And if you noticed in the Video, Garen wasn't always the team initiator. (which would usually be a tanks Job)

Generally, Tanks are tanky enough to tank the entire enemy team. And that's their Job. But champions designed to be the teams tank are hard to kill in a 1v1. (unless your a health shreding duelist) But being unable to 1v1 a Tank isn't as problematic as being unable to 1v1 a Juggernaut.

Juggernauts, combined that unkillable Tankyness with Some DPS. Which give them a lot of Dueling power. And if they are out dueling Duelists, then that's a problem. But for the Duelists to even compete with Juggernauts, they need Heath shred to deal with the big block of health in their lane.

And that also gives them some Diversity. Cause they may not be as good at teamfighting as Tanks, and not as good at splitpushing as Duelists, but they are pretty good at both.

But all and All, I don't point at the Juggernaut reworks as Disasters. (except maybe Mord) And that's because the reworks wern't designed to balance them, (that comes later) but rather to give some under played champions new mechanics for which they could be balanced around.

  1. I would be careful about the new Items that were inserted into the game. Mostly in terms of what champions actually pick them up. (cause Garen, Darius, Scarner, and Mord, arn't an exhaustive list of Juggernauts.) If Dead man's plate doesn't really impact how well a Mundo or a Nasus does, then it's probably Garen and not plate.

  2. I might argue that Garens Tankyness is some what okay, with the basis of Kite and fight. The real problem is that what ever poke you do to garen, generally becomes undone. And the source of that is his passive. Keep in mind that his passive was buffed several times before the rework. This isn't to say that he needs a new passive, but that his passive may be too strong at certain points in the game. (perhaps during the laning phase where the entire team can focus the (seudo) Tank

  3. As for Garen's damage, I might argue based on the Video, that he does too much Team damage. And he cares very little about who he goes for. I think his damage should be even more centered around his Villain. Use his Tankyness to navigate the Battle field, while the enemy team tries to peel Garen away from his target. Garen should be feared, but mostly when your the villain.
