My Idea of a Decent Match Making System

Static LP gain/loss (no more random amounts of LP, instead you gain 20 LP per win, and lose 20 LP per loss.

Hot Streak: If you win 5 games in a row you are on a hot streak, LP gains are doubled for subsequent wins until the streak is broken.

Cold Streak: If you lose 5 games in a row you are on a cold streak, LP losses are doubled for subsequent losses until the streak is broken.

Cannot duo with a friend unless they are in the same division as you. Golds with golds, silvers with silvers, etc...

Whichever player has the lowest LP is forced to play up to the rank of their partner. For instance, a gold 4 is playing with a gold 2, the gold 4 is forced to play at a gold 2 level.

Matches can only be made with players in the exact SAME level as you, for instance, gold 1s with and against gold 1s, gold 2s with and against gold 2s etc.. With the exception being duos that may be on your team or the enemy team as stated above.

No more series at any division level except 1, and no more forgiveness for stagnating at the bottom of a division. Top of the division series are only best out of 3.

Remove MMR, remove randomly getting matched with droolers you already passed by in rank a division ago, no more getting matched with absolute monsters who don't belong in your game.

TL:DR Not this shit.

Do you realize why this isn't the case? In a perfect world, this may work, and the LP gains might work in this world, but the matchmaking system is the way it is to shorten queue times. I personally would prefer to lane vs someone 4 ranks higher than me than wait 25 minutes to play a video game.

Ranked system is to make you grind Lol - a game with very little novel content aside from rotating modes and releasing new champs.

Mmr works essentially the same as the system you proposed except for the hot/cold streak which honestly doesn't add much. Every win, you get 12 mmr. Matches can only be made with someone who's mmr is almost exactly the same as your own except for the case of duo and at the very far ends of the ladder. You can't duo unless you are the same division. Your mmr gets boosted when you duo (another difference is that the current system will make you play up even if you and your duo partner are the same rank to account for increased communication.

Your system will create the exact same games we see now because it is essentially a carbon copy except for streak bonuses.

Honestly the only problem I have is that MMR and LP only raise and lower with wins and losses. I think you should be punished for dragging your team down even if you win, and rewarded for doing a great job even if you lose. It could be you lose, and you still lose LP, but your MMR stays stagnant or increases by a very small percent. Of course winning but doing bad would be vice versa. That way even if your on a team thats above or below your skill level. You'll eventually be matched with one that fits you better.

I think people missed the removal of ranked series almost entirely, with the only series remaining at the top of each respective division as a best out of 3. This in tandem with the hot streak bonus will both streamline climbing and make it far less grindy, while at the same time, alleviate smurfing issues some divisions are plagued with. On the same hand, those who purchase accounts in ranks they do not belong, will get dropped down very quickly with cold streaks and no safety net at the bottom of divisions.

I fail to see how this system is the same as the one we have now, as players suggest. If it were, then it wouldn't take so much grinding for players to climb to divisions where they feel they belong, with difficult match ups in opponents and equally competent teammates.

I only play ranked in search for a situation like this, and i imagine, most other people desire this as well.

"Static LP gain/loss (no more random amounts of LP, instead you gain 20 LP per win, and lose 20 LP per loss."

Not a good idea. Youre introducing variability by having people of separate divisions able to duo. If im gold 4 & Jimmy is gold 4 but i lane against jimmy's gold 1 support and beat him I want more LP for beating a higher skilled opponent. Vice versa. Lose less for losing to good opponents. Another concern here: if im gold 4 and im queing with a gold 1 friend i get bumped up to a gold 1 match. I lose 20 LP for losing to higher skilled opponents? Doesnt make sense. This lowers the incentive to duo. mmr is not random it makes it so you are matched correctly.

"Matches can only be made with players in the exact SAME level as you"

Good luck with this lol. Theres around 2200 players in d2 right now at the moment. Imagine trying to only gather only d2s for a 10 person match. Not only that but minimize autofills while youre at it. Factor in the fact that a huge portion of these people wont be online all the time. Youre talking 30 min + ques like we see in challenger all the way down in p2.
