HUD - font feedback

I generally liked the new HUD (apparently a rare one here) and found the new interface cleaner, but the drop shadow on the chatbox is giving me a headache whenever I look at it. It's not that I think it's ugly; I think it helps making the font stand out, but I genuinely get nauseated looking at it. Is there any way to make it an option to turn it off if the general consensus likes it?
