Is this a form of soft trolling?

I've seen some junglers just jungling all day, then soloing the other team 1v4/1v5, and goes back to jungling without ever a) helping in team fights or b) taking any objectives. They actually RAN BACK TO JUNGLE when all the enemies were dead and they were right under an enemy's inhibitor turret with a minion wave, without the slightest intention to attack the turret. And since they got all the kills and all the rest of us were underfarmed by a lot, we would die 4v5 constantly with the only fed person on the team on the opposite side of the map farming double golems. Oh and yeah they have teleport too...

Provided I mostly play bot games and before you say bot games don't matter, that's where most beginners and new gamers (myself included) start and learn about the game. It's very unwelcoming for new players to be teaming with people who are obviously not team players at all, especially since league is designed to be a team game as far as I know. Is there a way to discourage such behaviour?

If it's a player who does NOTHING but run around and AA minions/jungle mobs, it may also be a bot. But if they're fighting the AIs and/or talking then it's not.

There's definitely a subset of players in Co-op games playing for their own purposes. Either to try to get as many kills as possible, or as many Feral stacks as possible, or to build 6 BTs on Malzahar, or other goofy things they think are amusing. It would be better if people did this in Custom matches or on a team with friends, but... as long as they're not making people lose it's difficult to justify banning people just for doing weird things.

If you feel like they're deliberately trying to make you lose, or they're deliberately sandbagging enough to annoy you (like refusing to take objectives or fight the enemies ever) file a report post-game for that. If they're playing in at least a semi-reasonable manner (clearing waves/jungle, taking objectives, attacking the enemies) Riot's not going to ban them.

Really new players ought to be in Intro bots, which attracts less of this because of massively reduced IP awards for high-level players. You can't even get the first win of the day bonus past a certain point. Beginner bots give less IP too, but the "comp stomp" players sometimes gravitate there because you can get a lot more kills against the Beginner bots than in Intermediate.

Soft, Sensual Trolling

As someone who also mostly plays Co-op vs. AI games, I feel you.

But, I'll say that I've eventually become a much better player because sometimes when your team doesn't practice teamwork it forces you to learn to carry, and forces you to learn which adjustments you need to make for that to happen (lane swaps, buying different items, etc.)

I know that might sound weird especially depending on how new you are to the game. But it's impossible to learn everything this game has to teach you quickly. Like, the different types of champions, the different lanes, the dynamics of the game, all of that is important and all of it takes time to learn.

Example, when I first started playing I basically only played ADCs, didn't care what lane, just only ADCs. I got to the point where even if we had a bad player or a game where the bots got fed somehow I could still carry. But I absolutely didn't understand how to do this when I started playing different roles and it was frustrating.

Just the other day I played a bot game in which 2 of my team members were player-bots, so instead of it being 5 v 5 it was more like 3 v 7. Yeah Swain-Bot got super fed mid lane, and our human jungler had to go top because we essentially had 2 mid-laners who weren't really there. But I'm a good enough player now, and so were my teammates (thankfully) that we still won pretty easily because we understand the game well enough to know how to adjust to the EXTRA challenge of unhelpful teammates.

It sucks, but it kinda makes you a better player too. Then again, you're free to report anyone for any reason, and state the reason in the report. If they get reported enough by other people they may even get punished although that type of thing doesn't seem like it would draw reports THAT much IMO.

No such thing as "soft trolling", and Riot will never punish it. There is only "hard" trolling and that's it. Otherwise, it could fall under the purview of "bad player" which is protectable under any and all rules Riot can bring to bear. If they are doing it intentionally, there is still nothing you can do. You can only just lose and queue another game.

I'd report them for refusing to communicate personally.

You die 4v5 constantly? How is that his fault? Why are you fighting without him? Why would you only fight with four? This sounds like you are committing yourself to a bad strategic fight then thinking "wtf where is our other guy" and blaming him. Grouping and fighting as 5 is not the only way to win this game. How about you look at yourself and what you could be doing better. Maybe you should be attempting to split the enemy bots up. Push lanes that enemies are not in. This "afk jungler" sounds to me like a good opportunity for you to learn a different way to win the game and step outside of the noob comfort zone of '5v5 group push'
