guard dog needed for base as towers have been replaced with laser pointers

Alpha Dog7··87 votes·4,890 views

My team are behind but with the late game gods on our side (vayne, jax) I attempted to motivate the crumbling troops "just defend the base guys we can win easy late game" Suddenly the enemy team appeared at the first inhibitor tower and we rushed towards it as 5 to hold back the attackers while staying under the safety of the laser tower. Just as the minion wave is cleared the enemy team attempts to dive. Ha i think to myself we will surely win this fight as we have the laser tower on our side. As the fight continues i notice that the beam directed towards the enemy tank does not seem to be doing any fucking damage. We were pushed back under the nexus towers having lost the middle inhibitor and 2 friendly champions and as the next minion wave approached we prepared for our final stand. Once again the wave was cleared with ziggs powerful bombs but it did not matter as the tank who still had over 3 quarters life remaining suddenly dived the 2 nexus towers. Surely this will prove their undoing but to my amazement the 2 little beams focused on the tank and still did no fucking damage and so we were aced losing nexus and the battle. Our late game team had not made it to the late game because there was no way to defend the towers against these tanks even with great waveclear as the towers were proved to be too fucking useless. This is the reason i think riot should add a huge fucking guard dog that can be deployed straight from the nexus to swallow up these annoying fucking tanks in a single bite.

This sounds like a bas ass Azir skin. Dog Trainer Azir, he uses a giant laser pointer to gide hell hounds or something.

I have to agree that the Inhib towers do crap damage. Mages can tank them pretty easy now.

qetzel1 votes

They actually deal a lot more damage now. It just goes to show how low impact DOT feels.

Lugg1 votes

I guess it feels that way since you have a lot more armor by the time you reach them.

The laser's slow and damage debuff are very effective. I think it would be better if it shot two lasers with half dps each, so that one tank can't protect their whole team.

I think it would be cool if a monstrous beast was chained to the two towers in each base guarding the Nexus. Once both the towers were destroyed, it would be unleashed and gain extra stats and the ability to roam the entire base.

Yes. This seems perfect!

why not make the nexus turrets scale the damage to armor and hp? That way those will basically negate just tanking them? Make them untankable, you have to have full team pressure with minions to knock them down? This obviously is not an exact answer, but it gives some food for thought.

Oelyk1 votes

True damage scaling on max health?

blkh17 votes

something like that, so that those two turrets are the absolutely most difficult to knock down, they shouldn't be a cake walk. I want to see them melt all champs, not quite like the base laser, but they should be a lot more powerful than they are. If you make them scale to health and armor, it makes it pretty even across the board. But only the nexus turrets should do this.

Laser turrets deal X damage per second, where X is: 3% current health as true damage 2% max health as physical damage 2% max health as magic damage

blkh13 votes

how about nexus turrets negate all armor and mr?

EvilRabbitt2 votes

Desmond has the better idea imo. I'd reset it though. 2%(+2% increase per second) per second true damage based on maximum health

Tank runs in and loses 2%, then 4%, then 6%, then 8% in 4 seconds. Forced to back away. Tank has now lost 20% total hp in 4 seconds. Just as a rudimentary set up. It's ridiculous when Maokai just /laugh under tower for a straight minute.

So... it would still take a good 20 seconds of focused fire to kill anyone with 100 in both defenses. Sounds like it's effective enough.

Yeah i get it tanks are annoying right? But its completely fucking ok when the enemy jinx builds 400 ad and 4 shots everything in sight. Tanks are designed for just what they sound like. Turret dives and enemy concentration. I personally love it when i engage with late game tank nasus. As 3 enemy players ult me in desperation my adc cleans up all those easy kills.

Baron of Bread7 votes

Tanks have a place, and I can't say I don't enjoy laughing at the fear in my foes eyes as their pesky turrets tickle me while my adc destroys them. However, the turrets really should be more impressive. I honestly think that they should at least be able to hurt tanks more than they do.

Rinky Dinky8 votes

Tanks themselves and Jinx have nothing to do with this discussion about how shitty the lazer turrets are.

Ariel the Cruel6 votes

I don't necessarily mind a tank being resistant to laser turrets.

It's when the enemy ADC/Assassin decides to park their happy ass under it and get a kill streak. . . . Then walk away with half health.

Jofeyy4 votes

I understand tanking towers, but if BOTH laser turrets are on your ass, it should do true damage and insta gib you. No mere mortal should be able to tank two towers at the same time and survive.

For those who didn't read: TL;DR Nexus Turrets are absolutely useless, can we have a guard Nasus so we can't be extremely easily wrecked under Nexus Turrets?

Shouldn't Nexus turrets be the most powerful?

I just find it sad when we are about to have an epic baron fight but 2 of us are forced to recall to save the nexus turret from being destroyed by a goddamn super minion

Brutal Teddy2 votes

i made a thread about this a while ago... it got 3 upvotes or something xD I think towers should do health % damage to champions

I checked and could not find one about adding giant guard dogs into the game did you delete it?

Oh it wasnt about adding giant guard dogs, it was just about adjusting turret damage late game, doing health % damage that scales with time 10/20/30/40/50 minutes, that way we wont see 3 man diving a turret in first minutes of the match (Hi Dyrus) and we wont see big fat tanks diving laser turrets in late game, because no matter the health they got, it deals health% damage.. (remember, this is for champs only, so it wont affect minions and last hitting)

Strong turrets or homeguard

pick one

ScreamPaste3 votes

Remove homeguard.

Gavran1 votes

That may be a good idea. I think one of these things is probably needed to keep split pushing in check. But I'm nowhere near an expert in game balance to say which for sure.

blkh11 votes

Things should scale together. The turrets the further in you get should scale with your damage ability to them and with your tankiness. The nexus turrets should be the end all be all of defense other than the base laser. They shouldn't just act like paper doors to walk through. The tankiness should be for surviving against other champs, not the turrets.

Brotha1 votes

This post made me laugh way too hard.

As much as I dislike tanks just tanking the inhib and nexus turrets like they're nothing, I can understand why riot is hesitant to buff them. If tanks could not tank those turrets every comp would involve having wave clear along with 2 late game hyper carries (at least). All you'd do is turtle and farm until you hit that magical powerspike.

The only way they could realistically buff those turrets would be to buff Baron (which is the anti-turtle buff), but that could cause even more troubles down the line. Best you can do is try to pick a heavy cc comp and pray your tanks know how to peel.

BluePolarizer1 votes

the answer already lies in items which exist as wall breakers: Banner of Command to buff Baron'ed minions and let the magic immune cannon minion siege for you, and Zzrot Portal to push a secondary lane.

If you refuse to use those items, then that is your problem for losing.

Of course these items are nerfed into uselessness because most players don't want to build different in order to win. You can already see the cries of Zed OP because people refuse to build seekers.

junglerboy161 votes

I think it's ok that the later turrets take a while to ramp up (though they are too slow at it right now), but they should really do something like arc between minions for better siege defending, or shred armor/mr with each tic, because right now they deal pitiful damage and take longer to deal damage than the old single shot towers.

SorasMemories1 votes

The laser is dumb if you ask me. I can't tell you how many champs escaped because the laser ran out of range. Maybe if it burned..... Like ignite....

WutsKraken1 votes

Eh...

Lazer towers also have free Infernal Nasus' fight with them? :D

NinjaFifer1 votes

Screw the dog, make it a cat, and have the laser towers not shoot the enemies, but instead lead the cat from nexus to the enemy.

BRBGTGBOWFLEX1 votes

Yeah, I have no idea why I feel like the laser tower is useless. But when I play mid or ADC, inhib tower does not feel that threatening to me.

PubgamerAU1 votes

The thing is, it does damage per second, instead of per 2 seconds.

So it's actually doing less damage per tick than you're used to.

All Skillzz1 votes

yea i dived past the first inhib down asWarwick with only a frozen heart for armor and tenacity boots + spirit visage for mr/health killed the enemy adc with my red smite ult bull shit combo an few aa and then walked out with over half hp after tanking the tower lazer for a good 5-10 seconds.
