Fun and Balance

Okay, so I've been playing League of Legends for around 7 years, since the first season (Around the release of Akali). This game has turned from a small, silly, and fun clone; to a complex, frustrating, and boring game (IMHO).

It started out very simple. Few champs, and few buttons.

  1. Every item now has an active and a passive
  2. Every character (Reworked or new) now has to have an active and a passive on all or most abilities. Not to mention they now have to have at least one get in and one hard CC (Which makes the game automatically unbalanced as, you know, all your other champs?)
  3. Constant new champs?!?!?!? Why!?!?!? Really, I get it, money. Why though? We have around 150 champs and only around 50 of those can be used to play a game with. So what is the point in making 100+ champs unusable? So people cannot use their other champs? If you add one champion that makes another useless, you haven't got 2 champions, you have 1.
  4. Pings, nice job I love that. Really helpful, along with the mini-map teleport indicator.
  5. Wards, sightstone, etc. Was a clear system, now you have trinkets and sightstones. Sightstone is a good idea, but IMHO worthless. It takes up one slot of your inventory for a benefit of -800(1600) gold, one slot, and +300hp. For what? A couple of wards that last fractionaly longer than the trinket, when you can only place two of them down, they don't regenerate meaning you have to go back to base. Yet they are an important part of the gameplay. WTF? A limit on wards, when you buy a warding item with only 3, when your trinket gets 2 and regenerates. It's like you hate supports still, even after 7 years. Making them buy a useless item that gives them little benefit but a lot of drawbacks.
  6. Adaptability, this game will soon be abandoned as 90% of people use phones to play video games. This means Mobile Legends, and other such clones, will fly by you as you suck your thumb worrying about PC gamers. Rather than moving with the times of technology...
  7. and this is a big one, why do you seem to only care about the 'good' and 'pro' players of the game. Who might I add want to make it more niche, more complex, and more frustrating for your average player. You got to where you are by creating a popular game. but who do you ask for advice about it? The 0.0000000000001% who take the game far too seriously.
  8. For the millionth time, 3 v 3 was great, why turn it into an ARAM? The spider, is stupid, the alters are stupid, the health is stupid. Sure keep it as a game mode, but don't insult 3 v 3 by calling it 3 v 3. It's not, it's a mix between ARAM and 5 v 5 with 3 players on each team.
  9. URF is great, why stop people playing it?
  10. Why make it so hard to block someone? It is easy to report someone (Which apparently does nothing other than maybe telling them off, as they are paying customers are you are VERY LENIENT with multiple offenders). So, reporting them is easy, but choosing not to play with a toxic player is very hard, and frustrating??????????????????? Honestly, if I don't have to play with so many toxic players, even though the game is not as fun as it used to be, I might actually enjoy myself.
  11. The reward system. You already had one, remember, you know, IP? So the earning of IP... I have played well over 6k games on my main account. It only took me SEVEN YEARS to finally have every rune and every rune page. Still down around 10 new champs though (Which reminds me, you ever going to drop the price of champions again, ever? Last time you reduced the champion price was around four years ago). Not to mention the TWO times in the whole seven years that you have reduced the price of rune pages.

Everybody else just wants to have fun, with champions and skins they've bought but cannot feel they can play EVER dues to how biased the game is. Such as Skarner, I loved Skarner. Sure his Ulti was strong, like WW's (Instant), so you nerfed that and he became useless.

N.B/ If his automatic suppress was over powered, why not add the same wait period for WW or Malz surpress?

Only took you 2 years to revamp him and he's still not great... Sion was great, now he's not even thought of. If you ask for advice from people who just want to make the game more elitist, you will alienate the people that just want to have fun.

I have been saying the same things over, and over again. Never listened to, never ignored. I am one of the players who has played the most games in the world. Things that are better: Graphics, Servers, Reliability. Things that are worse: Community, Playability, Balance, Fun, Entertainment, frustration, annoyance.

Basically, this is a huge rant. How a lot of things are getting worse and very few are getting better. I've warned that League will lose a lot of original players, such as myself, welp. This is it. I barely play anymore because I don't find it fun anymore. How-ever Mobile Legends which is an almost direct clone, is simple, and fun, and entertaining.

If I am one of the most dedicated players, and I still have almost nothing earnt to show for that. Kinda sad...

  1. This one is a big one for me. I love the additions (Champion mastery, etc.). However you introduced it with everyone equal. So despite me having played over 1,000 games as Singed, I am still mastery level 1. You have the stats, why make somone who made their account yesterday the same mastery as someone who had been playing for years? Plus, WTF is the whol mastery, mastery, mastery mastery? I get it, you have 'mastered' the champ. What kind of mastery requires you to buy it? If I bought a gold medal and then swam three widths does that make me a gold medalist swimmer? No, and no way. You get mastery from mastering the champ, it should have 0% to do with anything else.

Eh well, Riot don't care. They've made tons of money and this post will be downvoted to hell.

Oh yes, I forgot:

  1. Duality of champions - Champions used to be able to be played in whichever style, build, etc. you liked. Things like AP Yi for example. Now champions are meta'd you cannot play champions how you want. You have to build AP on mages, you have to build tank on tanks, you have to build AD on physical. I know it may sound silly, but that was part of the fun. Having a silly build for a champion and enjoying the game.

  2. Tanks, is it just me or do tanks almost not exist anymore? With around 4 types of armour pen and mage pen no tank can survive more than most champs now. I loved tanks, but they have only gotten weaker and weaker IMHO. Whilst the assassins only get stronger and stronger. So you are a tank facing someone like Zed, or Yasou. You cannot move, farm, or poke. Yet isn't a tank supposed to be able to take damage? The whole game now is filled with 5 vs 5 assassins.

Not only do the new champs get tons of CC, and utility, you get to take less damage (Whilst very slowly walking after them whilst they used their utility to go over a wall, etc.. Even with flash to follow (So 1 time in 5 minutes) you'll be able to follow up on that kill))! You just don't seem to have thought about most of the aditions and changes to the game in the last 7 years. As I say only about 5 things have improved: Servers, Graphics, Stability, Mini-map and Pings. EVERYTHING else is either the same, or has gotten worse.

I'm just mad this game is no fun anymore, and have been saying it is getting less and less fun for years... Yet you still ask the pros what they think the game needs. Not the 99.99999999999999999999999% who play it for fun, the 0.00000000000000000000001% who don't is who you are asking for advice.

Mobile Legends has about four buttons. League now has Q active Q passive W active W passive E active E passive R active R passive, D, F, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (Around 17 buttons to press). Now excuse me but I find that a bit much to press all at once in the right order as I am fighting...

Another thing, having a one to one relationship on user names and summoner names? Seems to me likes someone thought ahead to have a one 'user name' to many summoner names, then over the course of 7 years either you guys forgot, it was too hard, or you liked making money off of the same people. As to play with the same champion, and skin on another server it would cost me either a lot of time (Let's say around 100IP per game) that's still 63 games until I can afford the champion, and what about the skins I bought? Too bad, you'll have to buy another skin... So if I want to play with anyone else on another server I have to spend money I've already spent on something I already own. You see how that might be a tad frustrating? Not to mention that is AFTER you have gotten to level 30 on that account.

I have only spent $50-$100 on League of Legends. Far more than I have spent on any game in my life, not by a little, but by a large margin. What do I get for my money? Insulted by paying for things more than once, flamed constantly by the community, to a game that has changed so much it is no longer a game I enjoy. At least if I bought a traditional game I would have that game. Putting money into League is a gamble, a gamble I lost.

I have exactly ZERO friends that play this game since I have. They ALL (Hundreds of friends, both in real life and online) have left the game... Why? Because it's a game they no longer find fun either. I know I get a lot of hate for saying what I believe to be wrong with the game. Because EVERYONE I know didn't like the changes.

I have posted every year saying how the changes you make just attract one type of player. A flaming, toxic, solo player that will ruin the game if it is not going their way. You've made the game all about burst and assasination, less and less teamwork. More and more solo play. Every year I have hoped someone, anyone in Riot might actually read this and realise that you are alienating all the players I have ever played with until they left. Well, I guess your original players don't matter, it's only the new players who have yet to spend money on the game that matters, the people that have already supported you and bought things have left because you changed the game.

99.99% of all updates to the game are all about money or advertising. Very rarely do you fix things, such as the shop which you have changed once. Not the actually underlying code of the shop, just the looks. It still crashes if you press it twice, the same way it ALWAYS has.

You had a great game and you chose to ruin it for the players that liked that game, to turn it into a cash cow. All about the tournements, pro players and streamers. All about that solo glory, all about that win.

Which brings me onto yet ANOTHER point. You've changed the game to be one sided. Whoever is winning the game at the 5-10 minute mark, is 95% the victor of the game. There is no turtle anymore, no playing carefully. If you play defensively; they will have fully stacked dragon, baron and 6 super, super minions. With you able to do exaclty..... NOTHING. Now sure, some games used to be even and go on for a lifetime, but isn't a FAIR game better than a QUICK one?
