Why not add voice chat to ranked games between all players?

Now before you start saying how this isn't going to work, at least present a reasonable argument first.

Why would i want to listen to 12 year olds being toxic over a mic

They would play music, they would scream, some would have loud background sounds, they would curse.

The list could keep going

Then if you mute everyone. Whats the point of voice chat in the first place?

better coordination between teammates

Why would i want to start my game by muting everyone?

That ruins the whole point of voice chat, an ontop of that it ruins the game for me.

I dont want to start my games by focusing on who im going to mute

The game is toxic enogh with text chat alone; I'd hate to see what it's like when Riot can't actually monitor the chat.

It doesn't fix the issue of their being premades in the ranked queue.

2 man, 3 man, 4 man, 5 man, it doesn't matter because they still exist in the ranked queue.

Nothing can fix this issue unless the queues and ranked ratings are split.

What's wrong with premades?

What's wrong with premades?

Pre-mades give the advantage of communication with only those that are apart of the group and alienates anyone that isn't part of that group.

They also gain control of the team functions such as surrender and remake, and can strong arm the other players into doing what they want instead of opening everything for discussion.

Pre-made teams can also be harder to detect elo boosting which Dynamic queue brings with its dynamic invite system or 2 to 5 man teams.

Not to mention anyone that isn't on a premade team is at a disadvantage when they get teamed up on.

Duo Queue in the old system wasn't great, but opening it to greater possibilities of queuing with more people only makes it worse.

Because of the variances of having people grouped being thrown into a ranked system with solo players, the ranked ladder ratings are skewed and cannot be correctly placed accurately anymore.

The main argument of premades in ranked queue is because they have voice comms and therefore better communication. Giving all players the ability for voice comms and equal communication would take away that advantage to an extent (yes, you'll be muting assholes and annoying kids, but it removes a pretty large part of the advantage regardless). You can make the argument that they've played many games with each other, and therefore have a much better idea of what the other person's mindset is and such, but voice communication would provide a huge step in leveling the playing field (also, that argument technically only stands for 4-5 man premades since 2-3 have to handle the players that aren't part of their premade which is fairly close to a solo player since the players can say, "Go f- yourself" if the premade becomes aggresive).

Even if voice coms are added to level the playing field it still won't fix the problem.

You cannot have a fair even playing field when groups and solo players are being thrown into the same mixing bowl and say it is okay to distribute ranked ratings.

How do you measure an individuals performance when the entire cooking pot is thrown in with groups and solo players?

Was the old system perfect? No.

Did it have problems? Yes.

Could Duo's still be an issue in the old system? Yes.

Some would argue that the old ranked system didn't show individual performance, but neither does this one.

Solo Queue was the best format we had to determine how skilled players were, and when you showed how decent you were you could form up a ranked 5v5's team to work together for that next level.

What riot should have done was come up with a new way to find players to fill 5v5 team's that were having issues that were OTHER then finding players from their last game or friends and the forums (like a raid system).

We need to stop shooting down DQ ideas just because we want SoloQ back, because if it doesn't come back (which is a good chance), then we'll be stuck with what DQ is currently rather than a DQ that could've been better with ideas that were shot down.

The idea of voice communication would at least make DQ a little more bearable, no? We shouldn't shut down this idea purely because we hate DQ and believe it's better than SoloQ, because if you're stuck with something, you may as well figure out how to make it better. If you have to eat a crappy meal, you don't just eat it, you pour a ton of ketchup/salt/spice/whatever on it to either mask the taste or make it slightly better. It's not a fix, but you have to eat that meal if you want to eat at all, so if you want to eat, then why say no to something that will help make it go down a little easier?
