Need feedback on Sej support.

I wanna know your opinions on Sej support. A lot of people rage when I Sej support, but it actually works. Sure it isn't the best, but she's reliable. Her ult can be a real game changer if done correctly. People complain that I have no shields, but I build Face Of Mountain anyways, as well as locket if there's a lot of AP on the enemy team. Personally I like her as a support, but please let me know how you feel. Thanks. [slayer-jinx-catface]

Long c/d offmeta supports aren't that good unless you rune / mastery for cooldown reduction, most of the time

So if it's not the best pick, why pick it? The only point would be to use her ult and by that point, the laning phase is going to be mostly over. She won't do anything that Leona or Malphite don't do better.

The way I take the OP's meaning here is that she's not top tier, meaning that, in general, other picks are considered stronger overall. That doesn't mean that she isn't a niche pick or a poor choice in certain team comps. A lot of people underestimate Sejuani, particularly her massive AOE slow. She's honestly not just an ult bot. She also gets really, really tanky with her passive. She honestly plays a lot like Trundle support, but I think her utility and damage scale better.

I have a 70% winrate with Sej on one account this season. The only reason you pick her support is because you want to play her and jungle is taken. Leona and Malphite do the same thing she does, only better.

I'd argue that she could be better than Malphite in certain comps, but Leona most definitely does her job better in every respect. I think you're second sentence: "The only reason you pick her support is because you want to play her and jungle is taken." is fair and accurate. I just wanted to point out that even at support, Sejuani has some use.

I would be more than fine with having a sej support on my team

Literally the Malphite support with slow skillshot ult, no attack speed debuff, 1 hard cc yet no slow/speedup. Malphite's passive is much better too.

... and Malphite support isn't even good most of the time.

Q is a knockup that is very similar to Gragas' Bodyslam, and her E is a huge AOE slow.

I know how seju works. The thing is, try to explain how she is better than Malphite at least. I'm not even comparing her to Leona, who fills pretty much the same role as seju (long range aoe initiation / tank), but has much better skills for a support.

I'm not writing her down as a troll pick or anything, but other champs that have the same purpose in support role are just much better than her. As someone said below, it's fine in low elos aside aside from the psychological factors, but if we're talking in general, Sejuani support is not good and there are much better alternatives.

My previous post was regarding the comment that she has only one hard CC and no slow; she actually has two hard CCs and a slow.

She can apply that AOE slow, which can trigger Liandry's off any AOE follow ups. This is a very narrow scenario, and generally anyone who still builds Liandry's is building Rylai's too so it's moot, but it could potentially free up that item slot if the only reason it's built is for the slow.

Also, her ult is slightly better compared to Malphite's only in that it doesn't put her squarely the middle of the enemy team. To be clear, I consider her about on par with Malphite as opposed to better at support (which is to say I consider her C tier), but she does have some use in that role. My argument was just that she passes the utility threshold most people have for the role.

You could probably play any support in Silver and Bronze if you are decent with the champion. You will have to consider that your teammates will probably express irritation with you since it isn't a meta pick.

I think it reduces the likelihood of you actually winning the game because it may affect your teammates mental state for the game and if one mistake happens they will blame the "sej support."

I use to sometimes jungle Nasus last season when I was in silver because he was my best champion and he could jungle fine with sustain and good clears. He just couldn't gank very well. I probably won most of the games I jungled with him, but my team spent a lot of the game irritated that I picked a non-traditional jungler. But in that Elo most champions can be played anywhere and you won't get punished. The player base is too bad to exploit non-meta picks.

I can see it working.

Sej support works very well where I am (low, of course) - but not for most given reasons. I also play Leona and Malphite so I have a good basis for an argument.

Slows

  • Leo: shield pop (AEO), "missed ult" (AOE)
  • Malph: rock (SINGLE)
  • Sej: ice pop (AOE)

Stuns

  • Leo: shield check (SINGLE), hook (SINGLE), "landed ult" (AOE)
  • Malph: ult (AOE)
  • Seg: dash-pop-up (FIRST HIT), ult (AOE)

Damages

  • Leo: ult (AOE), shield pop (AOE), shield check (SINGLE)
  • Malph: fist (AOE), ult (I think, it's been a while) (AOE), slow hurts a little (SINGLE)
  • Sej: dash (ALL IN PATH), smash (AOE), ice pop (AOE), ult (AOE)

Shields (build in)

  • Leo: self (SINGLE)
  • Malph: none
  • Seg: none
  • Note: Build Face of the Iron Mountain on each of these

Cooldowns Comparison (don't have time to look up the math): Each champ actually feels very similar to the one before it on the CDs. That being said, Sej probably has the longer ult (or Malph), but her other three abilities are rather quick to come back up. Sej probably suffers the most early game, but not nearly enough to make her feel useless.

I should have probably made my argument.

I would happily pick Nami over any of the above right now, but if I had to go tank, I would grab Sej if they have a mobile team and Leo if they have a pushy one. I'd grab Malph last, but that is just personal preference.

I feel like Sej has more AOE potential and therefore good peel AND initiation.

I am a support/ADC main, and I would both take and play with a Sej support.
