Alistar Ult doesn't mitigate Pyke Ult

This isn't a "Pyke is OP" post.. but shouldn't Alistar's Ultimate be a counter to Pyke's? It seems like Pyke just gets away with the flat damage no matter what.

Even if the mechanic wasn't "you die", you would still not be able to lower it with Alistar Ult. Because it is true Damage. Nothing negates, lowers or changes it.

Pyke has an execute, if you're under X HP, you die

Alistar just gets a damage reduction, that doesn't increase his HP

what? why would it?

????????????????????????????????????? ali ult reduces physical and magic damage. pyke's ult is true damage. what? ????????????????????????????

Alistar ult doesnt negate true damage or executes.

Na that's the mechanic if you drop below X you get executed regardless of your defences

Pyke and Urgot have a mechanic called "execution." When activated, it starts by dealing the target's current health in true damage. If this doesn't kill them, perhaps due to a shield, it quickly deals additional damage in an attempt to kill the target: first 10, then 100, etc., until it has dealt 1,111,110 additional true damage. If the target is still alive at that point, probably due to e.g. Kayle ult or Tryn ult, the execute gives up and stops dealing damage. Alistar's ult doesn't mitigate true damage, and it can't absorb damage equal to his current health plus at least 1,111,111 (for him to live with 1 hp), so it won't prevent his death.

Pyke's ult is an execution when the enemy is below a certain low HP threshold, thus ignoring any damage reduction & shield. So in this case, Alistar's ult basically does nothing since his health was already too low.

"X just gets away with the damage no matter what." Yeah, that's how things go now.
