Is anyone else having a lot of trouble with ranked this season?
I really need to just drop my thoughts out there... (and no I'm not about to complain about dynamic queue so if that's what you thought I was about to complain about then you're in the wrong thread).
I just don't understand the ranked system anymore. From what I understood in the past (been playing since before the introduction of the league system), if you are where you belong in the ranked ladder, you should be gaining/losing about 20 LP per game. If you belong higher, you will gain more and lose less. If you belong lower, you will gain less and lose more. Based on this understanding and the fact that I have been gaining between 21-23 LP per win and losing about 16-17 LP per lose, I have only dropped in ranking. My main gripe with this is the 'safety net' you are apparently given when you reach 0 LP. From what I've been experiencing, as soon as I lose a game while I have 0 LP, I get demoted a division. So the system is letting me drop like a rock in league position while my LP changes are telling me I should be climbing?
The entire ranked infrastructure (to me) this season has seemed extremely transparent and in a chaotic mess; mostly everyone I knew, during placements, placed easily 1-2 TIERS below their previous season ranking (I know its not unusual to drop simply because of the way its setup, but dropping several tiers? I'm at a mid-low plat skill level and placed silver, climbed back up since); and now I fluctuate very easily anywhere between plat V and plat III; this season just seems very inconsistent in comparison to previous seasons, and I just want to know whats up and if anyone else has been experiencing what I've been experiencing.
DISCLAIMERS(?): Been playing since season 2, been at a platinum level since the beginning of season 5, play various roles (mostly ADC, mid, occasionally support/top, rarely jungle), and mostly play solo, sometimes with 1-2 others, and semi-rarely with a full group.
