Rengars 'ferocity expires out of combat' trait needs to be removed
Reverting
s Q and extending the duration his ferocity lasts outside of combat was a step in the right direction, but it still avoids the main problem created with his rework; Rengar has become a jungler heavily dependent on early kills to have an impact in the game while lacking any serious gap closer to earn said kills before 6. Right now, the strongest junglers in the game (
) have solid gap closers pre-6 coupled with a decent amount of cc to wrap up the kill, while
, in light of the nerf to his leap range, only has two real methods of ganking pre-6; hope the enemy laner is stupid enough to face check the bush you’re sitting in OR drunkenly stumble into lane and hope you can build enough points for golden bola before they get back under tower (which is actually even harder to do now without the breaststroke Q since you’re forced to stop and auto whatever’s closest to you.) Obviously a solution is to wait until 6 to gank, but the issue here is
s current clear rate without any stacks on bonetooth is a joke, not to mention there are other Jungle assassins who do their jobs better than Rengar (
&
) post 6 without even needing their ultimates up to do it.
The easiest way to make Rengar a viable pick as a jungler again? Make it so his ferocity doesn’t expire out of combat anymore so he at least has a CHANCE to close the gap with golden e-bola. The ability to hard cc a target in his ganks was what set him so heavily apart from Kha’zix, but since it’s become so impractical to set up I usually find myself wondering why I even locked in as
instead when
is open.
