So I ended last season with silver 5 after winning 2 placments and losing 8. I won 6 out of 10 this season, got mostly s and a grades and bronze 1. How does this make sense if I played all my ranked so bad last season. I saw the: "Most people start at a lower rank then last season" thing but why? I understand that I must prove that I can play support on a silver level but didn't I just do that getting high grades and having a high KP and assisting my team mates.

I mean it, I am impressed you started Bronze 1 so close to SIlver 5. What did you end last season at (is more important than starting). Silver is often starting rank for first time season.
But yes, the placement system is such a joke. It is essentially 10 games designed to waste your time. There is no point in even trying when you are guaranteed to place lower than last season. Some people will argue, "it increases your MMR you climb faster." But I would rather just not spend 10 games that don't matter at all in my climb. If the system knows it is going to place me lower anyways.
