I like Kalista but can't play her

I like Kalista's kit. Made me realize how powerful kiting can be, but I can't go play a game with her without being frustrated of how unresponsive her passive is. It also feels very clunky early game when I'd get a Doran's blade and health pot. Even with enough attack speed, I sometimes find myself running into the enemy team instead of away as I try to trade. Perhaps this is due to my clicking forward into the enemy team first and then moving back very quickly after? Either way, this got me killed a lot.

Another thing I get very frustrated with is this bug with her rend (E) when it only deals half the damage it should. The other half makes kills feel so satisfying after chucking like 10 spears in the enemy, but sometimes they would survive with an odd amount of health left instead. It makes me question the reliability of her rend and whether I should use it to execute enemies or try to burn a flash to finish them off. I know she came out very recently, but just saying that I really like her kit while I don't like to play her due to the two most annoying issues about her that I said.
