MMR Decay

Amidst all the other glaring problems the game has now, I think one of them that I've come to believe is the problem with MMR, both ranked and unranked. I haven't played ranked, and barely unranked since S7. I thought (incorrectly) that i'd return and be up against lower level opponents, but I'm playing very evidently not at a platinum level, nor with any knowledge of many champions I used to know as many have been reworked and buffed/nerfed or otherwise adjusted. I mained Ahri and now she has a completely new passive and new charm reworks. I know she maintains her healing off of Q now but I had no clue until her orb turned green again and I searched for it.

I really think your MMR should gradually decrease over time. I'll be honest with myself and others that Im at best Silver right now until I learn a lot of the basics of the game that have been altered... Turret plating, jungle times, new champions and new metas. But, its very hard to do when up against largely better players than myself and not knowing if my bad play is from my knowledge, my skill, or my opponents. Not to mention many of my friends this season are lower rank or newer to the game and getting multiple platinum level and sometimes even diamond level players lured into our matches solely because I'm there (and not up to snuff anyway) is rough, and with a TON of games behind me, it will be many more losses before that evens out again. Im leveling a different account, but it seems a crappy design to have to start from the ground up, and now be up against very new players and of course not having my old account and skins, it all seems very bad.

TLDR; MMR should decrease over longer periods of time, especially if one hasn't played an entire year/season and then attempts to play again.

We had this MMR decay in SC2, where it created more problems than helped old player to come back.
