PSA: If you play solo queue YOU PLAY SUPPORT

I'm so tired of hearing the "I got auto-filled give me x I don't know how to play support". Well guess what - most people who get auto-filled into support don't know how to play support. That doesn't mean you go fizz support (Most recent experience with this for me was a fizz) when you're last pick and the team has no front line in their comp. If you play ranked solo queue YOU PLAY SUPPORT. As long as auto-fill is a thing everyone plays support. Stop raging, playing a carry, or refusing to help contribute to the team comp in a meaningful way just because you didn't get your way. When you do this you're behaving like a spoiled child who's throwing a temper tantrum. What makes it worse is at 20 minutes when we ff because we're getting stomped in team fights BECAUSE WE HAVE NO FRONT LINE OR CC and you dare to mention "I really wish you had just gone Leona and tried" they rage at you and then say "I don't play support I don't know what to tell you bud". Way to take responsibility for your actions you child.

It's not the support's fault if your team doesn't have a tank or CC. Stop this. Top or jungle can go tank, mid can take a mage with CC. It's their fault as much as the support's. I myself play support all the time but it's always a damage mage or Morgana or Soraka at most. If anybody expects me to play a tank melee support, they'll be disappointed.

PSA: If you play solo queue YOU NEED TO CARRY TO CLIMB.

Im sorry but Im sure everyone has been in the situation where they set up for their teammates, they heal, they shield, they initiate, they cc, they do whatever but if nobody else follows up and turns that into damage against the enemy team or an objective then that is just the support being useless. Same with wards, I`ve been watching the map with an eagle eye, pinging danger, warding, and teammates just dont care how many times I spam my ping and quickly type in chat to GET THE FK BACK they will go in harder and die to a gank or get caught out.

You can be the highest elo on your team and get auto filled into support, think about what sort of consequences that would lead to if you didnt try to carry.

Also dear god a support cannot SOLO TANK OR SOLO CC atleast not against a competent team. you are a group of 4 with another force looking out for (mostly) the backline, thats it.

PSA: Support is a role not a champion or set of champions

dim2a4/17/2017, 7:32:00 AM1 votes

I agree with the subject, but I think you're wrong in the text about comp. For autofill roles, I will have 1 or 2 champions I am good at, since I don't play those roles often. So it is up to people who are in the main roles to make comp work. I will float the champion I play when autofilled sup, but am not going to learn a variety of champions just to get autofilled. It is up to people in their "main" roles to round the comp out, and if they don't, I'm fine with losing the small % of games when I get autofilled and champion I know does not fit comp.

So modified PSA:

If you play solo Q you play support, be carriable with at least 1 champion here. But if someone is autofilled do NOT expect him to adjust to the comp -- if you got your main role, do so yourself.

You are right to a degree. Yes, everyone should know how to play some sort of support. Even if all you can do is play Soraka support and that's it, that's better than most people.

However, you don't get to dictate what the support gets to play just like the support doesn't get to dictate what the rest of the team gets to play. Yeah, I'd rather have an Ahri mid or something that isn't a Fizz since we have no waveclear, but I don't get to tell them "play Ahri, we need waveclear." I'd rather not have a Vayne top but I don't get to tell them that. I'd rather not have a Teemo jungle, but I don't get to change that. I can either dodge or do my best to work with what I was given. Those are your choices.

To everyone saying you're not required to adjust to the comp when you get auto-filled:

Yes you are correct, you as a human being have free will. As such you are actually not required to do anything. However, if you want to win in ranked you need to cooperate and work with your team. That statement was made based on two things;

  1. The assumption that you want to win the game you are playing.
  2. It was clearly stated in the OP "when you're last pick and the team has no front line in their comp"

You're right, you can be a spoiled brat and completely disregard points 1 & 2 because you didn't get your way and you're 'entitled' to get it. However, that means you ruin the game not only for yourself but for the 4 other players on your team. If you cannot understand that your actions directly affect your ability to both win the game and the gaming experience of 4 other players directly dependent on you than well... I can't have a conversation with you. If you think this way you're a selfish entitled brat who doesn't understand the concepts of teamwork and cooperation and beyond this paragraph you aren't worth any more of my time or energy. Bye.
