@Riot regarding the upcoming Galio Rework
Hello, Riot. Allow me to start off by saying (particularly towards Balance and ChampUp) that I really love the work you all have been doing lately. With great Champion Reworks (my personal favorites being Ryze, Shen, and Yorick), I'm really looking forward to the upcoming VGU's for Warwick and Galio.
With that out of the way and in-mind, I'd like to bring forward some statements about Galio, the Sentinel's Sorrow, and if possible, I'd also like to see some of your opinions on him. Though, bear in mind, I won't be suggesting any abilities for him, since I'm not creative enough to do so, and that's a job better handled by the excellent people of Riot.
So, the largest thing to say about Galio is that his general theme is both "heavy stone construct" and "anti-mage tank" - which paints an extremely solid picture, but a very situational character. I'm curious if you're going to emphasize the latter thematic for his rework, given that, at the current moment, all he has to that end are his Runic Skin and his Bulwark.
Although, I have a feeling that exploring that "anti-mage tank" theme would have problems - since mages are often few and far between in matches, with the exception of controllers in the Support role and the 50/50 chance of a Mage mid. Were you to explore this option, what would you do to keep him a consistent and appealing choice while still maintaining the anti-mage fantasy?
Another point worth bringing up is how, at Lvl 6, Galio becomes a nearly all-encompassing teamfight threat with his Idol of Durand. Being able to AoE Taunt and crater his opponents has always been, and may always be a high point for playing Galio, and his AoE teamfight threat in that regard alone makes him especially dangerous and, in spite of his low popularity, even more epic. Do you think his rework will keep his Idol of Durand in some way, or possibly even develop to highlight that ability?
I'm not sure what else I can bring up, but I'm perfectly comfortable leaving it at this - I'm sure there will be some people who have their own two cents to say. Thank you very much for reading, and keep up the good work!
