so what do I do against a team that does literally nothing but splitpush the entire game?

Just had a 4v5 game that we were winning until tryndamere and udyr pushed top the entire game (they were duo), and none of our team could do anything against them unless we sent the entire team up there. but if we did that their twitch would take mid or bot lane. We ended up losing in objectives because as much as we pushed the lanes out, 1-2 minutes later we're pushed all the way back up to our inhibs.

I still feel like we would have lost if it was a 5v5, because what was a morgana gonna do to a tryndamere or udyr?

Point is I need some tips on how to counter splitpushers.

to be honest it is a solution, but yeah 4v5 not much you can do. Otherwise control your lanes and map objectives. if tryn bot lane have like a zz'rot/banner of command pushing top and force a baron. this is an example. Or Bait his teleport by faking a fight/objective. and then if he tries to split again he will be forced to stay out or walk over.

Well udyr is super broken atm so you'd probably doomed dealing with him, but in general the counter to split pushes is to force a teamfight since you really should win a 5v3, and then grab baron or an inhib or whatever other objective, forcing the split pushers to back to defend their base. If they don't back you can push onto nexus and then they really have to back.

Being a man down is incredibly bad against split pushers. If two of them were pushing top then your team should be able to destroy in a 5v3 and then steamroll down mid lane much faster than even a trynd and udyr can push. Even if they're up against the nexus turrets you could send one member back to base to stop them with the help of nexus turrets and the other 4 can still push with impunity.

Sorry man. Being in a 4v5 you had virtually no chance late game unless the other team made a huge mistake.

The split push can be the best thing or the worst thing of course depending on your team. trynd late game is super strong. You could destroy him in lane, but all he needs are 2 items to come "online".

Basically it all starts at champ select. If the enemy team picks a trynd you have 2 options.

A. Someone on your team likely your top laner picks a champion who can duel trynd late game or who has the ability to make sure the wave never gets to your turret without trynd killing them. So essentially you have to match the split push to prevent them from pushing. Much easier said than done late game.

B. In champ select you need to pick a poke or hard engage. Basically the most common counter to a split pusher is you push up on them and force a fight. This only works if you can force an engage or poke them off. Meaning Trynd will have to recall to help his team. If he doesn't there is a pretty good chance 4 people will take objectives faster than he can.

This of course only matters if your team is the stronger fighter in a fight and you can lay down the poke fast enough to push the enemy off objectives or have hard engage like a Vi to initiate the fight. If the other team has a mage like Viktor who can easily clear a wave with 1 ability every time that waves come to turret than its highly unlikely you will be able to poke them off. In this case hard engage would likely be your best bet.

Hard engage their Team wiht all your Mates, kill these Guys and push as Team. You will propably be faster then the spliters, even when they are 2. That forces said Spliters to either:

  • Hope they can take something worth what they will lose because or your Team
  • or make them try to stop you as good as they can, to prevent further damage.

Notice this does indeed work good, since a team with a spliter is always outnumbered to yours.

Play somebody with good, quick waveclear that doesn't have to waste too much time stopping pushes. People like Singed, Zilean, Anivia, Ziggs, Lissandra, Karthus, Sivir, etc. Anivia is particularly good because she can probably actually deal with a two-man push alone.

The rest of the team is elsewhere, making it a 4v5 (3v5 in your scenario). Hard engage on them. Make them regret ever allowing their splitpushers to actually splitpush.

What i hate is when I play properly against a split push i still get punished. You fight the 5v3 and maybe get an inhib or a couple towers/dragon whatever. But then those 2 people split pushing took both inhibs and the 2 people you sent back to stop them were killed.

It just feels like there is no options against split pushers except waiting on them to make a mistake. And waiting on enemies to make mistakes isnt reliable enough to be considered counterplay IMO.
