Why does Yasuo beat Olaf top

I just played this matchup and then checked champion.gg and Olaf's winrate there is 37.84%... Isn't Yasuo supposed to lose to hardcore fighters like Olaf?

Olaf can only build ninja tabis and cleaver. He loses most of his resists when he ults so yasuo basically does true damage.

i think op means, that yasuo cant ult olaf while ragnarok is running since he cant get knocked up. so olaf should just be able to run him down with ghost and destroy him.

olaf should build triforce instead of cleaver.

the attack speed is useful for him, and if he manages to spam the axe, hell get constant sheen procs.

he doesnt need % armor shred against an opponent who doesnt build armor, either.

You assume that when Yasuo ults Olaf, he's fighting a solo 1v1 head on.

It can be any time. Any tornado that hits Olaf is an ult. Olaf can only predict one, as ragnorok doesn't break knock ups, it only breaks the loss of control so he could flash. Now sure, if they're just hitting each other in a dual, Olaf can predict it fairly easily, but in natural laning phase, the minions provide advantage against undertow and yasuo's Q Comes up very quickly.

Yasuo can dash around and poke Olaf down and then what? Every tornado becomes a death sentence. You can only ult one. Plus, Yas has a shorter Ult CD.

I can see how Yas beats him. Plus, this win rate doesn't mean lane. This means games. Olaf falls off late game, Yasuo not as much.

I mean, if you build a hydra first, and max e instead of q, olaf should have a pretty easy time against yasuo in lane.

Sure, you lose efficiency since you need to sell the hydra later, but shutting down yasuo should offset that gold loss

The keystone changes kinda screwed Olaf imo. But basically its hard for Olaf to chase yasuo with axes when hes dashing around with E and poking with Q. If you manage to not lose lane by lvl 6 though, olaf should win all ins 6+

Yasuo can beat fighters, but good duelists are built to fight one on one. That is where Olaf is pretty darn strong, and if you play to his strengths you're going to have a challenge on your hands.

You can still win, but sometimes you have to change your definition of victory. In the end victory only involves exploding the enemy nexus, but that's not what we're talking about here. You don't always have to win lane to win the game, and sometimes a stalemate is the best outcome you can go for.

Maybe the goal should be to poke at one another without really fighting and prevent Olaf from doing anything. Maybe you should only focus on heavy wave clear so you can roam and make progress elsewhere. You don't have to straight up beat Olaf to win, you just have to find some strategy that makes you more useful to your team than he is to his.

even if olaf has a 1% winrate against yasuo it could also be because yasuo does his job better after laning and such without ever even touching olaf

But that said its likely that yasuo doesn't actually "beat olaf" per se but has the same advantage as kassadin, he is an oppourtunist who happens to have complete control over when anything will actually happen since olaf doesn't have the needed mobility to deal with that and poke wont help

I seriously doubt yasuo is ever going to just throw his face at olaf unless he's just got a highly advantageous position and I doubt theres much olaf can do about it at any point in the game.

also keep in mind that olaf struggles against many things despite looking very strong at a glance

The major point that should not have evaded you is that Yasuo is a broken, faceroll easy piece of garbage champion that needs HARD nerfs.

actually Olaf counters Yasuo after 6 and can beat the s**t out of him. Olaf ultimate makes him immune to all CC(the one used already and incoming ones) like Yasuo tornado which means that Yasuo won't have a chance to ult as well Olaf's ultimate gives him true damage. the duration of the Olaf's ultimate is 6 seconds which is a lot. Olaf outdamages Yasuo after 6 in a whole game. I know I'm replying after 2 years, but Yasuo isn't broken ( he got some nerf's as I remember). Saying Yasuo is broken just means you don't know how to play against him, and I know it may be hard to believe for someone who only approves his opinion to understand that playing Yasuo well takes skill.
