Vi's ult going on cd when not hitting the main target

Ok so since I've started playing Vi, I notice that her ultimate goes on cd even when she doesn't reach her target with it. I feel like I waste my ult completely then. Like today I played a game and when to secure a kill on a Vayne but she died before I could reach her and my ult went on cd. Or maybe at least instead of refunding the cd if she doesn't reach the target, at least give her an assist for still targeting them. I just hate wasting the ult when it starts at a 150 second cool down.

Well, then you better plan better on when and how to use your ult. To start with, I think you will get better results from using it as an engage tool instead of trying to secure kills with it.

You didn't actually do anything though that's why no assist.

Its fair how it is. If Ashe misses an arrow, someone dies or zhyonas before cait ulr hits, zilean target doesn't die when ulted, that's just the name of the game. Shit happens.
