A tentative idea for a Mordekaiser Rework

Yea I know this again. As if we didn’t have enough Mordekaiser threads already, but there is this image of him that I can’t get over. Of a hulking giant of a warrior clad in metal that brings destruction where walks. I can only hope to capture that image in this proposed rework, and if not then I’d like to here your criticisms, thoughts, and opinions.

Passive- Relatively Unchanged

Q- Mace of Spades Passive- Mordekaiser’s basic attacks have additional ad, ap, and health scaling. Basic attacks against enemy champions slightly increases his shield and lowers the cooldown of his abilities by 2 seconds. Active- After a brief delay Mordekaiser swings his mace, cleaving through an area in front of him. Hybrid scaling of ad and ap Mace of Spades does a lot of damage in a large area in front of him, but at a low range. Making sure to hit multiple enemy champions with this skill will allow him to build his shield quickly. However due to its long cooldown missing this skill can make him much more fragile. 15 Second cooldown

W- Children of the Grave Passive- Mordekaiser applies a curse to all enemy champions he damages. The curse deals a small amount of maximum health as magic damage for a few seconds. Subsequent damage only refreshes the curse. Ap scaling Active- Targeted ability that only affects cursed targets. Mordekaiser unleashes the curse dealing its full damage immediately and slowing opponents by 60% for 1.5 seconds. This is what allows Mordekaiser to stay close to his target. The curse mark also helps him deal with tanks. The active has a long cooldown though, so choose your targets carefully 10 Second Cooldown

E- Siphon of Destruction Cast Range- 250 Mordekaiser creates a sphere of metal at a targeted location. After a brief delay it explodes dealing a large amount of damage to enemies in a large area around the target location. Hybrid scaling of ad and ap In addition to Mace of Spades, Siphon of Destruction is also another way for him to build his shields quickly and deal damage against multiple enemies in team fights. Like Mace of Spades, missing or using this skill ineffectively can severely hurt your ability to survive in teamfights. 18 Second Cooldown

R- Lord of Metal Mordekaiser deals magic damage per second to enemies nearby for the duration of the ult and is constantly rebuilding his shields. While in this state his abilities are also enhanced • Mace of Spades cleaves through a larger area • Children of the Grave now roots targets in place • Siphon of Destruction corrupts the ground its cast on creating an area that constantly applies Mordekaiser’s curse to enemies within it 90 Second Cooldown

I don’t have the numbers for the ratios on the new skills and cooldowns are definitely tentative, but the idea in the end is to keep Mordekaiser’s identity as a juggernaut. Skillful use of Mace of Spades and Siphon of Destruction gives him impact in team fights and builds up his shields. This allows him to use his basic attacks to not only keep himself in the fight longer but also lower the cooldowns of all his other skills, rewarding him for constantly fighting enemy champions. His Children of the Grave also allows him and his team to close in on a specified target. Lord of Metal only enhances these strengths. If you thought you had to stay way before, then once his ultimate is used you better well damn get away. He has several weaknesses to take advantage of though. He has no inherent mobility and his skills, though having a large area of effect, all have low ranges. This means that kiting him is still a viable strategy. Additionally, if he misses his skills, due to their lengthy cooldowns, then he becomes much more fragile and can be blown up before he’s able to land many auto attacks in team fights. Keeping him from auto attacking an enemy champion stops him from decreasing his long cooldowns and thus being continuously impactful in team fights.
