Laning against Nasus is the most frustrating experience I've had in League

Trias000··15 votes·7,061 views

And that's because he's a ticking time bomb. Normally, if you're in an unfavourable match-up you can just sit back, play more cautiously, just farm and focus on surviving. Maybe you give up some cs in order not to get killed, but that's not the end of the world. But if you do that against Nasus, you know what will happen. Eventually he'll have enough both damage and tankiness that he can just take all your towers and there's nothing you can do about it. And if you try to stop him, he'll just press R and two-shot you. So you simply have to shut him down before that happens. But how? What if you lack the tools to do that - you don't have the damage to kill him outright and your poke only tickles him? And what if you don't manage to do it? It feels like all you can do is ff. Also, his design is so dull. He can grow immensely powerful without even interacting with his lane opponent. I.e. he gets fed by simply pressing Q. Nasus player only faces one decision in the laning phase: should I farm or should I farm? I won't even mention his abilities that are designed purely to frustrate the shit out of his opponent.

And don't tell me that my jungler can gank him, because I'm talking about things that I can control. If all I can do is pray I'll get lucky enough to deserve jungler's attention, then I might as well play fucking roulette.

Meh. Play Nasus, get 800 stacks in 30ish minutes, realize you get kited to oblivion and their botlane is better than yours, get melted, lose the game.

You can't get kited if you don't chase the enemy. You can simply take their towers and walk away.

Also, I don't understand why people say it's easy to kite Nasus, given how powerful his W is. Not to mention that you mostly play melees in toplane. And it's tough to kite with those...

It's easy to kite Nasus as a team. It's easy to engage on Nasus since he has no escape too. If Nasus team is weaker, Nasus gets easily engaged on, cced and killed. Aka it's actually hard for Nasus to carry even if retardedly stacked/fed, against decent teams. Added to that, starting a certain elo, objectives will fall immensely faster and games can be over before Nasus even reaches midgame powerspike. Added to that, conqueror's and nerfs to resolve and klepto changed the top matchups a lot for Nasus, it's much easier to bully him and the matchup is still a contest when Nasus got armor and a bunch of stacks. Not against tanks but tanks top are played less and less

Sure if you only consider Nasus on nasus team and give the other team an well built comp. If your team builds a bad comp they should be punished for it and subsiquently lose if they cant play well enough that their worse comp doesnt matter.

I love playing against nasus. I know even if he goes 5-0 500 stacks we still have a chance to win.

This is pretty much the reason why Nasus has been allowed to scale so early post-Runes Reforged. It's mind-boggling how a champion who was once known as one of the hardest carries in the game doesn't even qualify as a carry anymore, simply because the state of kiting means he can't function properly in a match's later stages.

Sad days when I remember season 2 Nasus that had disgusting mana costs, flat pen instead of % on E, 40% cdr max instead of 45, no access to infinite scaling health via grasp/overgrowth, no R making Q cd divide by 2, no resistances on R... Felt like such a lategame beast and you really felt the contrast of the garbage lane (everyone literally laughed at the 45%WR weak guy he was) and the absolutely insane lategame he had.

definitely no damage/CC/mobility creep /s

Copy and paste this for Tryndamere too

I dont have as much of a problem with tryndamere just that the bs change where they allowed him to ult in CC. If he doesnt want to die without using ult he should have to play with building defenses to cause his enemy to try to cc too early.

Illaoi makes his life miserable. Gnar does too as well, but to a lesser effect.

My personal pick is Warwick as a laner. He is able to deal against nasus at all stages of the game. MasterYi is also a good pick for jg if you want to outscale him. He can't Q down a Yi building on-hit tank.

WW can fight nasus late game or at least drag on the fight long enough for his team to get there. You underestimate how much sustain a WW has when he builds to counter nasus.

I main him i know what sustain he can pull off but nasus with late game stacks and his W as slow plus his R reduces his Q cd by 50% and then there isitem 3075 ..

Go AP route with mormello. I was only able to outtrade WW as nasus with 700 stacks and ult after 25-30 seconds of fighting. He went something like item 3146 item 3165 item 3047 item 3065 item 3110

cancer trio for me personally

Oof, same. Darius' bleed early game is deadly, so it's hard to feed. Thank God it falls off by late game, so that way champs like Poppy (Who's main counter is Darius) can counter him with their CC due to most likely fights against him being team fights.

As for Fiora, try someone who can out poke her, like Azir because of his late game abilities (As long as she isn't fed) then you can kill her with ease.

Then there's Gnar... Aatrox revive helps him out, but you might want to try out Talon because of his of his mobility and his range is ability to go against him. Just be careful when you're away from a wall.

Good luck! [poppy-wink]

LordGeovanni1 votes

Darius' bleed doesnt fall off you just can stack armor to make it less effective But its still effective because he has armor pen from he and item 3071 he should start to use item 3035 soon too.

learn how to play the map and beat him by getting your team ahead of his

DuskDaUmbreon3 votes

You don't beat Nasus by beating Nasus.

You beat Nasus by beating Nasus's team.

If you're playing someone who can easily abuse the fuck out of him in lane, do so. If you can keep him from ever stacking, you'll win. If you make him unable to get his power spikes in time, he'll remain fairly useless, especially if you keep pressure up on him.

If you can't, forget about him. Just make sure to clear waves top before he can use them to take turrets. Spend less time fighting Nasus and more time beating the fuck out of his team.

A Nasus can win 1v3, but he can't carry 1v5. If his entire team has lost, he's lost. And he tends to fall off late-game, as he gets kited to death. The enemy ADC will beat him down while their team locks him down. If he's against a team that can't peel him off, odds are they can just group up on him and beat the shit out of him, although they will lose someone.

If you can't do either of those? Just clear waves against him as much as you can, and try not to feed him. He can't take turrets without any minions. If you stall him enough, you can get your team to win.

Nasus can't do much in the early game. He can't help his team much, all he does is sit in lane and farm. What you want to do VS nasus is to kill his bot or mid, take a drake, while he can only watch from toplane.

Get your botlane fed and they'll kite Nasus to death late game.

Only if the enemy surrenders really. Games ending early was 90% people surrendering or other wise not defending things and throwing because they figure 'already behind why even bother just gonna protect this kda so i can blame some one else even though i am not contributing to anything'

To be honest, nasus is always banned for me no matter what roles, normal or ranked check my history i never see him cause i always banned him. To be honest, Veigar Nasus Chogath 3 of the make laning against them pretty boring cause they can just farm on minions and if they in hard early match they can just sit back , chill, heal and farm while to be honest the amount of frustrating get more bigger depend on the champion annoying and boring in lane so if i going to pick order to annoying Nasus > Chogath > Veigar , if you ask why i pick that order . Because dealing with Veigar is the most less painful since you outplay him in late game and it easy to destroy him in 2v1 case while in same time he can't just keep spamming his Q and in same time he doesn't heal back any damage he take from trades while Chogath can just keep poking you from range and if you try to get close he will just silence you then run while in same time he able to restore both hp and mana by killing minions like really but late game he is weak to 2v1 while in same time his best skill that scale is just one person skill. Finally mr Nasus now i will tell you why he is the worst of all of them, he can goes as tanky as Chogath , 500+stacks start to hurt as much as veigar skills shot while on squishy it almost equal veigar R damage beside all of that even if you picked hard lane bully like Darius Urgot Illaoi Fiora Garen Aatrox once he hit that 300+stacks + 2 items = you not able to 1v1 him anymore and if you tried to be bull enjoy your death, and the worst thing about that if you miss click or misplay as bully around him he going to recover that amount of damage you did hit and just going to sit back while healing and all of that doesn't cost much mana either.

TS Media2 votes

Nasus doesn't even need 800 stacks... I just needs 200, righteous glory, sheen and level 6. From there he starts grouping and becomes a 1v1 nightmare on that split.

Diana hole1 votes

LOL just don't let him farm you noob

Madsin251 votes

This is seriously the stupidest advice anyone can give.

Anyone who says this is pulling "advice" out of their ass and have probably never fought a nasus.

If you constantly harass a nasus you will give him that sweet freeze under his tower that he wants so bad. Facts.

ZT Xperimentor1 votes

Never fought a top lane vayne or quinn huh?

Swiftstrike41 votes

Nasus can just max E in those matchups and auto win.

ZT Xperimentor1 votes

Have you done it and have proof?

Swiftstrike42 votes

Yes, I one trick Nasus (Currently Plat 2) and I have faced plenty of ranged champions.

E Maxing versus ranged matchups is how most Nasus mains should play the lane. Fairly easy to deal with ranged matchups if needed.

I stopped seeing top vayne in mid or high gold. Top Vayne is pretty terrible since my jungle knows she has a weak laning phase. Usually junglers are smart enough to shut down top vayne, which is why I completely stopped seeing it once hitting platinum.

ZT Xperimentor1 votes

Don't care about your rank; but nice to see smarter junglers that know to cripple late game champions early.

Swiftstrike41 votes

Rank implies that I have faced and seen counter picks (a lot) and have had success against them. Counter picks don't really matter too much until Diamondish and champion proficiency and game knowledge is more important.

I have faced so many top vaynes/quinns in gold that simply don't understand how favorable that matchup is if Nasus maxes E.

ZT Xperimentor1 votes

And that sounds like an excuse to defend a fictional title, playing for several hours a day for years sounds more experienced; everyone is going to perform better when they have top of the line computers on an isolated server, so those pros are just as mediocre to me. My point is I was only asking for an example, not a life story.

I was more curious about their unavoidable self-peel, yeah you can slow them, but they both can create a fixed distance regardless of speed; how do you deal with that? Or are you also getting cooldown reduction to keep them slowed as your mana allows?

Swiftstrike41 votes

Your first point doesn't make any sense and is unrelated. Never once discussed PC specs.. Peripherals don't mean much and neither do computer specs. I play on a keyboard that is 11 years old, a monitor that is 7 or 8 years old, and a pretty mid-tier PC. It comes off pretty rude when you asked a question.

You just drop your pool on them. The range on Nasus's pool is really far is wide and far. It will hit most champions that are ranged and I will be out of their AA range. Their self peel doesn't matter too much since I just use the spirit fire to zone them, get CS, and do damage. You can easily take it in the practice tool to see how far it can go. Far enough of a cast to hit most ranged champions.

Maybe Caitlyn would be able to AA me and still avoid most of the pool damage, but Vayne, Quinn, Teemo, and Jayce can't. All have pretty short AA range.

I take corrupting potion and buy a doran's ring on the first back. Pop the corrupting potion before I intend to drop a pool.

I don't try to kill them (I don't wither them unless I think I can kill) but they take a lot of damage from Nasus's Spirit fire and most don't bother building any MR.

They won't have enough sustain early to farm safely and avoid damage from my E. Usually I push them out of lane after 5 spirit fire drops. If they stay longer they could simply die to subsequent drops.

Maxing spirit fire is pretty common in tough matchups for Nasus. You can still CS with it and it does a lot of damage with early points. A lot of players don't think Nasus players will max their spirit fire, but the higher you go the more often they will need to in tough matchups to avoid missing CS.

I max my spririt fire against other matchups too where I can't get close to melee, like pantheon, darius, or olaf.

Madsin251 votes

From my experience there is only one way to outplay Nasus.

Phase rush to break his slow. This also works extremely well against Tryndamere.

Of course this only applies to AP users. Nasus is overwhelming for AD champs that I will not deny.
