With these new full damage ADC builds it almost feels like we could use the old one again

Yeah, but when ADC's don't build lifesteal any more and choose to just one-shot... You want the higher return damage rather than the grievous wounds

Lol you ever think ADCs dont build lifesteal anymore BECAUSE of thornmail? Lets recall how this went. ADCs were draintanking off the enemies' frontine. The community complained about it. The entire community demanded Riot do something about it. Riot introduced bramble/thornmail. ADCs stop building lifesteal since its now dog shit efficiency.

Now we've come full circle and complain about ADCs building crit instead of lifesteal.

the old one was better at countering crit.

the new one becomes better the higher the enemy attack speed is, but double zeal + infinity edge builds were punished harder by the 30% before mitigation damage return.

because adc would eat 30% of their own unmitigated crits.

if they didnt have lifesteal to counteract that they would shred themselves on a thornmail. this means with the own version of thornmail those infinity edge + rapid fire + shiv rush builds would have never been possible since thornmail would have destroyed them.

on the other hand, grievous wounds doesnt affect an adc who doesnt build lifesteal. so the dude will crit you for 800 damage and take 30 to 40 damage on return with the current thornmail. and that damage gets shielded or healed off by his support.

Nope. It reflected magic damage which even after just base MR drastically cut the damage to a single LS item.

Legit the only person who bought it was Rammus . Malphite always bought item 3110 or item 3025 .The others you listed nevr bought it.

Old thornmail was dogshit. It was practically never built. They reworked it because it was dogshit and now its a great item. I dont understand why there are all these people acting like thornmail was a great item

Rammus When you play a lot of rammus, then thornmail is god tier item. Old thormail was like buying a rammus on your team to deal with the gold 1 smurf MasterYi .

The reason tanks would buy thorn was because of grievous wounds. IDK why you tank mains are not satisfied until you can tank a full crit+lifesteal build ADC and still win 1v1 which is happening by the way Cough Malphite Cough
