A discussion about the Viktor buff

While this buff is appreciated, it doesn't fix any of the major problems that his W has. The main problem with Gravity Field is how easy it is for everyone to escape it.

Compare Viktor to Veigar. Veigar E stuns anyone who touches the edge of it, leaving them trapped. Gravity field is just a worse version of this, even with the upgrade. It has a larger area, more utility, more reliability etc.

In most lane matchups such as, Akali AhriTalon Zed Yasuo Katarina Diana , it is effectively useless due to much mobility they have. Placing it on top of yourself isn't even effective due to how quickly you die in this meta and increasing the cast range won't help.

If Gravity Field is going to be buffed, then I would suggest a few other ways to do so:

  1. Increase the slow percentage. As of right now, Gravity Field has a 44% slow at max rank. Increasing the slow would make stunning easier for him.

  2. Add a grounding effect. With all the mobility in the game, having a grounded effect, similar to Singed or Cassiopeia, would give more reliability to Viktor since he can protect himself from an assassin or burst as a Battle Mage should. Other Battle Mages such asMalzahar Anivia Ryze have tools in their kit to deter assassins away. This is where viktor sticks out like a sore thumb.

  3. Fix the weird functionality. Gravity Field works as follows:

Viktor deploys a gravitational imprisonment device for 4 seconds, slowing enemy units by 28/32/36/40/44% and adding a stack every 0.5 seconds. At 3 stacks the target is stunned for 1.5 seconds.

Why have stacks? Why not make it so that they are stunned if they are in it for more than 1.5 seconds? This has caused a rare bug in some champs like YI where he doesn't get stunned because there are no stacks on him since he isn't slowed. It is quite annoying and fixing it to be a normal slow would be nice to have.

Thoughts?

I don't agree with increasing the slow percentage. Champions without mobility should be able to escape it as well.

But I don't see a problem with adding a Grounded effect and removing stacks.

In short, I disagree with 1 but agree with 2 and 3.

Eh... I’ve never played viktor but yes his gravity field is SUPER EASY TO ESCAPE even a xerath or velkoz can do it. Even though they don’t get in range. It’s sooooooooo easy to dodge,

Honestly tho, it seems anyone can walk right out of it. It feels quite ineffective to use unless they are cc'ed prior.

Maybe ground anyone who is in the gravity field and reduce the slow slightly or keep the same....becuz gravity lol

I would say that keeping the slow would be best. It starts at 28% and caps at 44% at max rank. It isn't too great but it is enough to leave an impact.

Just bring back his old passiv with old stats and price. I remember it gave at the first upgrade 40 flat AP et 1xx flat mana + some ap/lvl for example.

I remember them saying that they nerfed his hexcore due to the uninteractive gameplay Viktor brought where he would just waveclear and just wait in lane. Now it seems every other champ does the same thing. KInda sucks

It is even worse, for me Viktor has got the worst early game of all mage now.
