Why is winning the only thing that matters?

So this game is set up to make people hyper-competitive and breeds toxicity because of it. Regardless of how you feel this game is set up to reward winning and only to reward winning. Here's a few of the ways:

  1. Is the first WIN of the day not the first GAME of the say
  2. The only way to raise your ELO is by winning
  3. Key fragments can only be gained from victories
  4. You get more Influence Points from a win than a loss These things make people hyper-competitive and increase toxicity. Why are stats other than W-L ratios not taken into account? Here are some that could be viewed and applied to ELO and other things: 1)KDA (I know that it isn't a true representation of skill but it's a start)
  5. Damage dealt or Damage healed
  6. Wards placed or cleared
  7. Buildings destroyed
  8. KP% These can all be calculated and are in some cases even shown under the stats tab in the post-game lobby. These should be taken into account when it comes to matchmaking and ranking.

Not this shit again...Stop finding excuses for your incapability to win games . Either stop ranked or stop bitching. People are dealing with it and those ones are the one who climbs. They find excuses for themselves "if i could do that,I wouldn't have died", " I should have taken the objective instead of chasing for the kill" but those are positives excuses allowing them to improve because they question themselves. You,on the other side, just bitch about not being able to win. Guess what, chasing on KDA can cost you the game because it's not the same philosophy than winning. You did well but your team sucked? too bad ,this is soloqueue but at least you improve and will keep winning. And if you say"but my teammates always suck"then you're the problem You complain about toxicity? mute everyone. Pings are enough. Focus more on the minimap instead of your chat.

I don't mean to be rude, but are you joking?

Because this is designed and inherently balanced as a team game, most of the time anyway, and it's not your average lone-wolf "multiplayer" game (that is often twitch-shooters) where it's only "multiplayer" because it has a bunch of people on the same map. So yes, winning is the bigger part of the progression calculation in terms of laddering and stuff. The fact is, winning and losing a match is a far more objective standard to anchor to than things like KDA, damage done/healed or wards cleared where it's not only subjective by the virtue of being selected for arbitrary reasons, its measuring metric is also usually arbitrary, hence winning/losing is the base-line standard.

But then again, I mean, we already have this arbitrary system you're talking about, it's the champ rank/mastery-level thingy, even if it's just on the side.

However 1 thing I will say is that, "first game of the day" in exchange for "first win..." is always welcomed, and really anything regarding improvement on key fragments would do such as allowing it to also be gained from losing (it has a hard cap on your earn rate anyway, so why not make it easier for those who don't have that much time). Otherwise I am not too concerned tbh.

I'd say that toxicity in this game is caused just as much by kda, damage, wards, objectives, and other non-game related factors as it is by winning and losing.

Although it's not the motivation behind the many bonuses on winning, you could even argue that the goal of winning lowers toxicity and trolling, as players won't receive any of the benefits you listed if they want to troll and be toxic individuals (things that lead to losing more than winning).

I get it's frustrating that the game can sometimes just feel like winning and losing are all that matter, but I don't think it's true that everything else in the game doesn't matter as things like objectives, damage, and wards all help lead to that win in the first place.

Because it is a team play. If you lose, your team loses. It is made to play for the team instead solo. Very simple in fact. No matter how good your are if you let your team to lose, you are a loser, and that shall be.

  1. It works against Bots, or in ARAM
  2. Why does Elo matters, if winning shouldn't matter?
  3. Not true. It WAS the case, but not anymore.
  4. OK, I actually agree on this point.

People aren't hyper-competitive outside of Ranked. In fact, it's often the reverse, we have players who complain that people in Normals are not competitive enough and say "it's just Normals".

As for why other stats aren't used: because if they were, people would optimize those stats, and not winning. They would lose the games on purpose just to get better stats, which would be kinda ridiculous.

Leagues kinda the place where terrible humans go to be even worse human beings. Like look at this thread for instance look at the sht that ppl respond with its judging as fck. Think of it like church where everyone goes to be even more religious and promote each other be even more closed minded and dedicated. Leagues just the other place where ppl can promote super judging behavior and just be terrible ppl. Those kinda ppl all need a place to go and meet up too. Just not for ur regular person.
