Honest question looking for an honest response

This is mostly aimed towards the Riot balancing team. I'm not going to flame you about anything in this post, I can't promise I wont in the future, and I have certainly in the past.

The question is:

Do you find yourselves experimenting with changes to long standing items/champions/mechanics solely out of wanting to change -something- . Not that you're bored, after all how could you be with a game like this? What I am getting at is that some of these changes over the last 2 years specifically (I've been playing since 2011, so it's not like I'm going for the "always" in numeric form) have seemed to be aimed not at bringing things in line with each other, but to shake things up. Which, as is obvious, creates a whole lot more issues to be dealt with.

My predetermined bias:

My hope is that you aren't creating new challenges for yourself at the expense of a more balanced, likely less unique game (in comparison to what's floating around in the meetings), in favour of making something new/innovative. While creativity is a key value in game design, in competitive sports, such as League of Legends, there needs to be a balance between creativity and conformity.
