I'm scared to become too attached to ekko

I've been playing a lot of ekko, and I really love playing him, he's a lot of fun. However, I can't tell if its because I simply like his kit or because his damage is just so damn high. Its pretty obvious that ekko needs a lot of nerfs, and I really want them to come soon, so I can finally figure out if its because I like him or just his damage. I have a feeling that I do really like how he plays and feels, but his damage really just needs to be nerfed.
