Question about Aatrox

Slaxer··6 votes·1,615 views

So ever since 9.3 came, /r/AatroxMain started a small movement called "revert Aatrox". I was wondering if riot would actually go back to such drastic change of a champion(which in my opinion they shouldn't all that work would go to waste).

Also I don't think the E change was thought through it made it even harder to land q so wouldn't it make sense to buff the slow on w? or make q do more damage to make it more rewarding?

But yeah I'm just hoping they give aatrox a small buff since his E change is his hardest nerf and everyone at Aatrox main are going nuts.

Any ideas to make Aatrox a bit better?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: No, because the old Aatrox was a massive statcheck and was fucking useless until Conquerer broke him.

And Tryndamere isn't that but worse? Like, Conqueror's new version the PBE literally allows people to drain tank like old Aatrox did, yet Aatrox was the one that had his kit completely changed because its "too" similar and more stat checky to the low skill stat check crit stick. Hate to say it, but this rework right now is heading down a road thats gonna lead it to a Kalista/Azir/Ryze situation. I'd rather have a partial revert that allows him to go back to his auto attacking style than waste 5+ patches just trying to keep this Q uberpowered kit in check without killing the champ.

One out-dated PoS champion doesn't excuse another.

Otherwise Riot would have to rework them all at the same time.

alright then I'm convinced they won't revert him, but if you check the subreddit discord for /r/Aatroxmains it looks sad and desperate, They have a channels for reverting and are so blind that they can't accept that riot won't revert aatrox.

Honestly, I'm not surprised.

It's always sad and desperate, because there's always "mains" (read: Statcheck abusers) who want reverts. Even if the old one had only two states - OP and useless. Even if the old playstyle was shittier than a fly's buffet.

They want Aatrox reverted to the easier version, post-Conqerer pre-rework, where all you had to do was buy Rageblade and another item or two and it was basically impossible to lose, and you basically couldn't lose lane because of your W. Most of Aatrox's "mains" asking for a revert are people who exclusively play Trynd and Jax. :v

This is getting really tiring.

Just play Xin Zhao at top.

(which in my opinion they shouldn't all that work would go to waste).

If we're being honest, there didn't actually go that much work into the Aatrox rework.

His kit is unoriginal, and as many have already pointed out, basically just a "Riven 2.0".

His model was about to be shipped way below standards before someone corrected it and Riot gave it an update and it looked much better.

His banner wings weren't even a feature he had on launch, it was only something they added after enough people complained about it.

Finally, even though several months have passed, Riot still refuses to fix his model's broken animations that he's had since launch.

This is just talking about in-game. His lore is abysmal.

His new character is bland, his personality is atrocious, and his voice is terrible and doesn't fit him at all.

The only thing good about the rework was the cinematic, which looked great, and that's it.

The Aatrox rework was just something that was cooked together and rushed out to stop people from complaining about old Aatrox.

"Riven but more like a juggernaut than an assassin" is a far more original concept than "Generic auto-attack based statcheck conquerer abuser."

Is the new rework perfect? Hell no. But it's several times better than the old one.

And did I say old Aatrox was perfect either?

Hell no, he was a mess.

But instead of taking the time to fix his problems, they threw out his core identity, cooked up something in 2 days (obvious hyperbole), and threw it on a model and with animations that can barely be considered finished.

His previous core identity was shit enough that it made Hashinshin's teamwork look good. There was no fixing his problems without a full rework - that's a fact almost everyone knew and understood. His knockup needed to be relevant and semi-reliable, his revive needed to be controllable (too unreliable otherwise), and his W needed to go. And when you're reworking 60% of the kit, the rest needs to be changed too.

At least the rework fixed the majority of his problems. The ones remaining are balance-related, not kit-related. This means he can actually be balanced now.

And visuals=!gameplay.

Well said, also I think this aatrox seems cooler, the only thing I miss about old aatrox is his AP ratio and sword

you really think that reworking aatrox didn't take money, time, and resources? making a champion takes like months before a teaser goes out, which is why I think it won't be reverted

No, of course it took money, time, resources, obviously.

But we shouldn't act like Riot poured tons of effort into it.

Riven 2.0 would suggest he is a upgrade...he is a strict water downed crap version.

GreenKnight2 votes

Psh, like hell anything would be reverted.

Riot will never own up to how rework design philosophy fucked up the game, and blind people will still say that they "fix" gameplay.
