So... what actually counters LeBlanc?

Sassmast3r··1 votes·3,233 views

Hi everyone, hope you're having a great day! :D Anyways, I was curious as to what counters LeBlanc. For me, the major thing I struggle with is the fact that there isn't enough time after she teleports in with her W and casts all of her other abilities to spam all mine back and try to kill her - She just teleports away. Any suggestions on certain champs that could counter her, or perhaps certain playstyles? Any help would be appreciated, thank you :D.

Morgana works wonders against her.

If you stop her from getting kills (even if you don't kill her) she doesn't transition well into the late game. She's only insane if she gets fed.

If you're a farming champion, such as xerath, ziggs, anivia, etc., then you should push the wave in as much as you can, just keep pushing pushing pushing WITHOUT being harassed. Always auto attack and be sure to not miss any CS, this way Leblanc will be forced to go back to the turret and farm there, OTHERWISE she will take TONS of minion damage and have to 'b'.

If you're a dueling type of champion, such as Ahri,Zed,Syndra,Anything else. Then it's best to do the above ^ AND if you have CC, study her movement to see if she will W in on you, if you have a Sigil (From Leblanc's Q) and she comes in closely, she will probably W in or Chain if there are no minions. Once she W's in, it's your chance to instantly CC her, things such as Ahri's charm does GREAT. Because if you time it right, you will stop her W mid-jump and it will not finish her damage, and it WON'T pop the sigil on u, making leblanc in your side of the minion wave CC'd,wasting her W damage and not popping her sigil (meaning you just won the damage trade), and possibly no possible way of coming back, to add on free damage on her.

CC'ing her on her way into you doesn't only apply to Ahri though, you can do this on Xerath, and get a complete full combo on her which will force her to back off.

I only told you to farm and push because it forces leblanc to not be so aggressive onto you, and it's very hard for her to farm, making her Miss CS, or use abilities which will drain her mana (ALOT).

And only those champions that are very good at waveclear (as I have listed)

Okay, thank you so much for your advice!! I actually main Diana midlane, so I will have to try the steps above out soon with her to see if it works all that well.

Artishy1 votes

Yes if you time you're CC right, it CAN stop her W, which means stopping her damage and stopping the sigil damage along

Was about to post same thing, ez lane for malz past 4, or all lane if you dodge her w.

Hihi, I have a smurf dedicated to only playing LB, (Lei3lanc is the smurf name)

I find both Morgana, Fizz and Talon to be the most annoying laners to play against :)

Sassmast3r1 votes

Yeah, it seems like Morgana would be hell to lane against as a LeBlanc, I should try that sometime :)

Lissandra seems like a very good counter to Leblanc in my opinion. Her Q for ranged harrass, W for root and ulti as well.

You're not using your windwall properly then...

How do?

It blocks both her q and e... That's half her kit gone.

I think Annie does. Instant cc passive

I think Annie does. Instant cc passive

Actually Annie loses that match-up assuming equal skill. The best she can hope for is to not feed the leblanc, go even, and then have a bit more impact in team fights with her flash+ult combo.

As for who can counter Leblanc I tend to have a lot of success with Galio, building a ton of MR and just not caring about her damage. I also have had good success with Ahri but it's very skill dependent, you really have to be good at predicting or responding to her W with your E so you land your charm before she really gets to dump anything else on you similar to the old Kassadin vs Ahri match-up when he would try to R on top of you.

I have wont he match-up with various champs though by counter building. If I'm an AP I tend to rush an Abyssal or RoA, and then Rylai/Zhonyas depending on what I bought first. If you time it right with the Zhonya's you will completely break her combo resulting in her doing very little damage but blowing most/all of her kit which gives you free reign to do what you need to at that point. She's annoying and very strong right now, frankly I think she does need a nerf to her mobility or at least some mana costs on her ult, but she isn't unstoppable once you get used to how her kit works and plays.

IcyPepper1 votes

Huh, figured you could bait her by holding onto her E with your passive one spell away, then using quick cast to use Annie's Q on Leblanc when she blinks to you for her combo, then using the stun bear and W.

shrugs

SSJTribe1 votes

This is exactly what I do in that matchup, only I use W to stun when Leblanc dashes in, as the cone I feel is a lot more forgiving.

Its a good thought but leblancs damage tends to happen so fast and her passive provides her a very critical moment in which you can't target her once she is low making it difficult to really work in your favor.

That said I have beaten Leblancs with Annie using a combination of what you said with the builds I recommended earlier so it is possible just not favorable.

TeemoJenkins1 votes

Saw a Teemo absolutely take a dump on her yesterday, it was funny as hell. (I don't think Teemo counters her, just proving LB isn't as easy as people say).

LXII1 votes

Just pick someone that can either CC her into oblivion, push the wave super hard against her, or negate her whole "I can kill you instantly" thing. I've seen Morgana do very well in lane against her just by endlessly pushing waves on her, Galio does well because she can't just blow him up, and you can even do some out of the box stuff and take Sion mid against her and completely decimate the lane. The problem with LeBlanc is that people still want to play their traditional mids and hope they don't get smacked, but it's better to just pick someone that negates her kill power and make sure she doesn't get any good roams on your bot lane (Pings, chat, etc.) and she'll be a non-factor.

Sassmast3r1 votes

Very good advice, thank you!!! Do you think Diana would work very well midlane against her? I main Diana (she's my favorite champion omg) mid and sometimes top, so I'm curious if I would even stand a chance against LeBlanc as Diana :3.

Gonna be a skill matchup for sure. but with your shield and cc it's definitely possible to win that lane.

Godhri1 votes

Orianna All you need to do is level up your shield first. The only thing you need is your shield and your auto attacks. If you're good enough, you can also try to land a low level Q and W for even more damage on her. You'll out trade her every time if you do it right.

Sassmast3r1 votes

YES OMG I CAN FINALLY USE ORIANNA!! Thank you! :D

lb is countered by about 20-25 minutes

Major Sparkles1 votes

True, but not all games last that long.

Morgana owns her . champs that can out farm her. Champs that dodge her E.

youngjake931 votes

Magic Resistance and quick reflexes.

Seriously even if its for a brief instant, she does put herself at risk for everything she does. Just spend 500g on magic resist to not instantly die(it builds into tons of useful items). Use your spells on her when she uses hers on you and you should win the trade just because of LB's absurd squishiness. Especially since most LB players aren't used to being punished for dashing in, so they don't use any resists. Line your skill shots up so that it goes through where she is now to where she is going to port back to. Don't keep minions in between you two if your skill shot doesn't go through them.

I went ziggs against Her with new athenes. Placed satchel on myself and everytome she jumped I would e and it stopped her damage, displaced her, and allowed me to spam q w and ult right where she gets blown to. Instant combo that should leave her crying

Knight SoIaire 1 votes

not dying destroys her her only way to actualy aquire ap is to get items, to get items she needs gold, and the only way she can get enough gold is by killing since her farming sucks

so if you pick any mage and not die while farming medicorely you will remove her from the game

A lot of Leblancs max W first making her farming extremely easy, fast and safe. The whole "she can't farm" defence hasn't been a thing in a long while.

Knight SoIaire 1 votes

if she farms with her w then she creates a window of opportunity for you since w has noticeable cooldown

i think you could capitalize on that and get some dmg on her once she is immobile, anyway she wont kill you without it imo

her full combo at 6 is qrwe and it usualy doesnt just 100 to 0 you (not sure but i think you will have a little bit of hp)

so if she has no w she has no kill potential

so by removing one of her weaknesses she creates another thou capitalizing might be hard dpending on situation and champion, you still get a shot at zoning her

those topics are hard becuase its not just the matter of kit but also skill

Martyrofsand1 votes

The CD of her W goes from 18 seconds to 10 and her first buy is generally Morellos or Athenes, most like Morellos at this point, giving her 20% on top of the 5% she gets from masteries and 10% she can get from blue buff. Generally she will have the CDR item by 6, which would give her 3 ranks in her W making it a 14 second CD at that point add in 25% from the item and masteries combined and it's 10.5 sec CD, 9.1 with blue buff. That isn't a lot of time to really do much especially when you consider that she just pushed the lane and you need to clear it as well as she still has the jump of her ult to get away or jump in if she wants.

When she hits 9 it gets even worse as with blue buff her W CD will be 6.5 seconds. Keep in mind the CD of the ability starts when she casts not when she returns to it so with 4 seconds to return she could use it, return at the last second and then have it back up again in 2.5 seconds, that isn't a lot of time to really play around her especially considering the rest of her kit. It's why distortion maxing is so strong, you become insanely mobile much faster in the game, you don't have the weaknesses of lacking wave clear, and in general you are much safer and do a lot of AoE damage while still dealing decent single target as well.

Knight SoIaire 1 votes

still you assume that she actualy farms with that w ?

your point describes how it works perfectly, i realy like how you used math to back it up but her early damage isnt big enough to just kill all those minions this leads me to conclusion that she pushes the wave without getting much gold of it, this calls for a gank or that she used w+ult combo to clear the wave, which gives you an actual downtime during which she cant trade you

there are advantages to capitalize on but my point is still

those topics are hard becuase its not just the matter of kit but also skill

and there is only one solution, you need to practice playing vs lb harder, even if riot nerfs her it wont happnen soon, so all you can count on is your skill

Martyrofsand1 votes

I don't think you understand my stance on Leblanc. Do I think she is a bit over the top? Yeah I think her mobility could take a bit of a hit, but overall when I counter build and play correctly I tend to see positive results. As such I feel she is in fact more balanced than a number of other champs she tends to get lumped in with, such as Zed for example.

What I was pointing out is that the supposed weakness of her not being able to farm simply hasn't been true for a while now and because of the nature of her W and its ability to return her to her original location its also some rather safe farming.

Knight SoIaire 1 votes

well we have loads of champions who represent the same type of a problem

katarina is supposedly having weak early game, but she wont even get close to your range while still getting some cs, and she has good enough base damage to burst you at lvl6 without buying any significant ap, so she is fre to lose as many cs as she needs because at lvl6 she gets to stand on equal with you anyway

riven is supposed to be vulnerable when she uses her skills, but all she will use is her q, if she cant just all inn you at that point she will save w and e to negate any trial of capitalizing on her cooldowns

nidaele is supposed to be useless when ou dodge the spears but she chuckless so many that she is 100% sure that she will hit your adc one day, and you cant just collapse on her

among all of those champions is dont see lb as a problem, her farming is weak, if she maxes w its better but still she wont be farming good

Galio and Amumu counter her good.

Karma .

You can push the wave pretty hard with Q. You're fairly safe & mobile with your E. If she tries to lock you down with her chains, you can reciprocate with W (and even sustain off of it if you ult first).

Krinu1 votes

Galio and Morgana work very well against her. Galio because lolwhatburst and Morgana because you can push alt-E and laugh.

Meep Man1 votes

Ahri If Ahri can land an E, she will certainly do some decent chunks of damage to her.

Annie Near, if not, instant crowd control is always good for stopping a hyper mobility champion.

Fiddlesticks Once again, instant crowd control. Fiddlesticks also has some sustain to go with it as well.

Fizz Fizz has been known for having hard to dodge burst, which is LeBlanc's usual bane. If she can't dodge it, its gonna mess her up.

Galio Back to instant crowd control lane is the real LeBlanc hard counter. Galio just has to R and throw a Q or two and she is or is near death. His passive also promotes getting magic resist while also getting stronger offensively.

Lissandra W or R, instant crowd control. Screw you and your blinks LeBlanc.

Malzahar Did I mention the benefits of instant crowd control and hard to dodge damage yet?

Morgana One of the few "all it takes is one" champions. All Morgana really has to land is one Q and LeBlanc will be out of lane or be taking some serious damage.

Ryze INSTANT CROWD CONTROL!

Urgot I TO THE C TO THE C! WHAT DOES IT SPELL? INSTANT CROWD CONTROL!

Veigar Once Veigar can get enough AP, LeBlanc isn't even a thing as long as she isn't extremely fed. Even then, Veigar's R scales off of her AP as well, making her still take a lot of damage that can't quite be dodged.

Zed Super burst and mobile assassin vs super burst and mobile assassin. Who will win? Pretty close match-up, but Zed has overall the upper hand due to him having Energy and in my opinion, stronger ultimate since it makes him cast his spells 1.2/1.35/1.5 times plus an extra 0.5 or so times for every shadow spell he hits.

Chespin20131 votes

i hear galio is good against her never tried him in that matchup so i wouldn't know what other advice to give you

Reikken1 votes

I play Annie and put my cursor over her and press buttons when she jumps in to try to burst my squishy buddy next to me. Works more often than not.

The Bearded Bard1 votes

Sustain beats leblanc. She's got no way to heal, so even though she might outdamage you during trades early on, she won't be able to heal it back up. If you're playing a champ that doesn't have innate sustain, buy some extra health pots. After lane phase invest in a Banshees. Long ranged poke champs also beat her pretty bad considering she has to get in close to do damage. Chill in the back, poke her down, like I said, she's got no sustain.

PandahHeart1 votes

Annie and Diana definitely do. Especially since Diana has that shield + she can be kind of tanky for LB. Annie can burst her down. Usually LB's are build for damage and not defense so they tend not to build MR. If you're playing Annie, make sure you Q + W her to trade, especially when your stun is up because even if she Distorts back she'll still get sunned by your Q. Then you can you probably get a few autos off too. And when Annie is 6, she can drop Tibbers right on her, plus Q and W to almost (if not) kill her. Just don't take free poke.
