Velkoz Vs Tahm Durations? What?

How does Velkoz get a 7sec duration on his deconstruction stacks AND its easy to refresh and add more for true damage. Nevertheless, after consuming the stacks, he still has 7 secs to deal true mana with his ultimate which already dealt a large chunk of damage.

So why is tahm stuck with a 5sec stack duration when its harder to keep stacked in general and doesn't stack well AoE wise (think regurgitate) compared to velkoz.

I just want to hear some comments on this

Because Vel'Koz's passive doesn't let him either stun you or pick you up and spit you into the middle of his team.

instead it lets him deal true damage to the entire team more easily and he can still stun and slow them in the process.

Where as tahm has a more difficult process getting them, puts himself in a more dangerous position (even for a tank) to get them, and so on.

I know they're different champions and do different roles but I'm hoping velkoz gets a shorter time frame between stacks because that's kinda ridiculous to me

Except that tahm's job as a tank is to basically walk into the enemy team and distract them. Vel has to position properly and stay at range (he is supposed to be an artillery mage and incredibly squishy) to make the most of his skill shots (which all of his abilities are) to build the stacks.

Not only that, but Tahm can simply auto a target to get the stack. Vel has to land his abilities, and his autos only refresh the duration. You can land one ability with Vel, then proceed to auto, but your target will stay at 1 stack.

The last difference that I can think of is Vel's stacks, if not refreshed, simply drop off. After 7 seconds, a target goes from 2 stacks to 0 instantly. Tahm's gradually fall off, allowing you a chance to build them back up.

Thanks. That was the most helpful comparison/comment. I've never played velkoz but I do a lot of tahm top.

However, involving the gradual decay. Sometimes it's helpful to catch it before it goes down (like keeping it at gold sometimes) however, most of the time it feels like the gradual decay isn't worth it because they go away rather quickly and depending on the champion can easily avoid you or engage you if you try and reapply the second or third stack.

But I'm an unranked "bronzie" who mains Illaoi the most so meh.

Granted, I haven't played as Tahm, so my statement about him were observations. The decay felt longer when I would face him, but my focus isn't always on the decay speed when I'm facing him. I play Vel mid a lot, as he is my favorite mage, but I'm usually top lane tank.

As for the "bronzie", I myself was placed in B4 this season. Probably doesn't help that I don't have the solo carry mindset..
