Swain

Every time I get a Swain on my team...sigh...we lost.

Buff this champion holy cow. He seems really weak and feeds so hard. The old Swain was sleeper OP, this one is just junk.

I've won quite a few of my swain matches. It's rarer for me to lose as him than to win.

He's quite powerful. The utility he brings to the table alone is insane. People underestimating him is also nonsensical as his presence in a teamfight is truly reassuring. You have another champion with CC that goes through minions! He has an AOE ult where he can still cast his abilities like Fiddle, and he gets relatively tanky meaning you don't have to worry about your team being too squishy if he's on it.

A VERY good pick.

It's too bad he's actually a challenge to learn and master. You can actually combo into his W and yet I see no one doing it. His Q at point blank range does stupid amounts of damage but nobody uses his pull effectively. Nobody even uses his snare effectively. It's PRETTY LONG. You end it early if you pull... sooo many small details to the champion. It's really sad. Such a good design... so powerful too... It's really bad it seems like people gave up on him before they could see his strengths.

Electrocute, secondary sorcery for manaflow bland and scorch.

He's got mana issues so manaflow is kind of necessary on him. Domination has a bunch of lifesteal options and landing electrocute is absolute cake with him.

Personally I've found Unsealed Spellbook to be his best go to. Free boots, future market and the CDR rune. Secondary Either the shield rune or mana flow and always transcendence

If I don't take mana flow, I focus on last hitting with autos (so they shove) and don't really start using q until its like lvl3. If I do take manaflow, its still more last hitting than spamming but I can be more aggro

At 10 min with lvl 6 beyond you're getting massive cdr on your summoner spells and can tweak your loadout for the enemy. I like ignite flash early for kill potential. I'll eventually swap flash for ghost, and ignite can be swapped for TP or another combat spell.

Electro/Aery/Comet all work too, but I feel other picks beat him in utility with these sets

Grasp is amazing on him top lane. Glacial Augment is really good for high mobility enemies and is also my preferred rune for taking him support (its hilarious)

My self phase rush gathering storm ultimate hat and clerity. Resolve secondary demolish and the one that increases healing you receive.

Ghost plus the new item that gives the ap and move speed active. When you ult with that and ghost no one escapes you

Arguments that honestly are laughable I've done every build possible including fleet footwork, no or is saying he is the worst he isn't if you put some strength effort to go that extra mile to learn and practice but in all my play with him, and it's been a lot (Swain main before) do I didn't want to give up in him, so yes a lot he is meh. At best even when ahead you lack the capability to make a difference unless you are playing a team of idiots, like yeah his root goes through minions but on its return it doesn't and it's a straight line and the enemy has but to move slightly forward or to a side

His q ridiculous dmg up close for sure but that's hoping they are not in a cluster of minions, or have reliable cc or long range which let's face it most do there is also a slight delay that if in melee range if they have movement speed they can avoid the blast fully, or if it's a poke champ by the time you even get close enough or get a reliable pull your health would be about the same or lower.

The w can be comboed in for sure but after that you have what your ult and another q you have no way to finished them just that initial burst and that's it no one stays in lane at half life and if they do they were asking to die you have no way to stick to a target unless you have ghost which I have ran on him before and is better at comboing that way but I find shield better despite the lack of sticking power. ( Unsealed spell book isn't viable anymore after the nerfs at best you get your summoners slightly sooner)

And last but not least his ult which again on paper sounds amazing but in actuality does not play well, the charge up is ridiculously long to recast, so most are out of your radius by then even with a pull the ult does no dmg until you at least past two items which let's face it one is roa and that doesn't build till mid game, and even then most if not all are doing dmg by then so they either leave your radius wait it out since the cool down is a long one and then jump you after or they all focus you before you can proceed the second cast you can't even reliably zhonyas combo since again they would Al just leave the radius, (ghost helps with this)you are not tanky and if you are you are doing no dmg at best you are a glorified cc bot. He has all these things that sound good on paper but in actuality facing an actual intelligent person can be easily countered with little effort, at best I agree with what nanuk says which his his team fight is decent but why stick with a champ that has competitors that do it way better. He is under powered there is no argument there it is that proper don't know him is he is highly dependant on there than himself at best he is a support now and I've seen support classes hold there own better than him, soooooo yeah no he is underpowered

LOL Sleeper OP you're funny kid. Swain is as good pick depending on team comp, and the situation you're in. He's in a good state rn.

He's below average winrate, and is only good when the rest of your team can lock down the enemy so he can waddle up and shotgun things in the face. If you wanted to do this with a team comp like that, why not just play Vladimir? Vladimir lategame has 1,000+ damage AoE every few seconds, massively more sustain, and gets a larger cushion of life off of building damage.

The only saving grace for Swain is that he makes a decent lane bully, and he can turn 1v2s into a double kill at 6. Otherwise, I could name more characters than Vladimir that do his job better 'depending on team comp'.
