MYMU didnt actually fix anything...

so ...

[zombie-nunu-bummed]

ya ....

EDIT: IF YOUR GOING TO DOWNVOTE I WANT YOUR REASON WHY YOU DISAGREE.

people who were broken in terms of damage are still broken and in some cases more so (cough velkoz and brand, didnt the community speak against him being one of the big 6 or something?)

people who were on the verge of being useless are are now useless except more frequently, and you took you took 3 months to slightly adjust on average 2 abilities on each champion, play with items, and make an admittedly cool dragon change even if it still needs work, and even if THAT IS NOT A MAGE SPECIFIC THING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE MYMU or worked on during it ... just saying ... you could have worked on making brand less oppressive instead of giving him a spreading-percent-health-AOE-burn-ability/percent-health-booster-damage-over-time-debuff.

I mean its a step in the right direction ... I guess, mages are now a tad more diverse but you did not fix anything else IMO. I mean that is what you said your goal was, but i guess I was expecting more from this than just (as a for instance) changing the pattern of zyra q and copy pasting illaoi passive in place of her old one.

I am in no way saying I hate you riot or what you have done, but only expressing my disappointment at what seemed to be presented to me as a huge update to mages. It was supposed to fix things but it honestly depresses me. I have to say I expected something more like the marksman update, with which im moderately satisfied, but i dont know if i can say the mage class has changed at all.

a comparison for detail

  1. the marksman update changed the face of marksmen in a unique way, effectively overhauling key champions and changing the items so that they were effective at filling multiple deficits. FOR INSTANCE the semi recent development of the rage blade tristana build.

  2. the MYMU currently didnt make playing any of the big 6 any more interesting. They still are attractive for their broken damage combined with their effective utility (brand/zyra) and one of them was justifiably not needed in the big6 as people thought he was healthy enough. (it would have been like making jinx one of the big 6 in the marksman update because all of her abilities are used the same way and feel to repetitive[which is obviously not true due to the way you play jinx she feels cool and in many ways was similar to velkoz]). The item changes have added a semi pointless and conter productive line of "hextech" gear. counter productive because the idea was to get everybody doing different things,, but this item makes it so that mages (in some cases non mages maybe) will be doing one thing in common dashing with fireballs or throwing icicles. damage items havent been touched (yet, disclaimer, idk if they will or not) and now on top of the fact that none of this has been tested on public environment ... at all .... (so they dont know what will be impacted in the long run) they decided to add this non-mage related change to dragon. infact its a huge change specifically related to janglers and a huge part of the game that doesnt work right atm (towers and teamfights), yes they are pushing changes to towers and death timers, but again none of it has been tested on the public environment.

TL;DR: When you said MYMU I expected large changes to items that would help balance deficiencies that people like ahri have that arent that big, but there still feels like there is a little something wrong, and also large scale changes to broken or pointless mages like brand and zyra (respectively), that would get rid of their lack of decision making/playing against "wanting to kill yourself" vibe counter-y-ness. on top of that, I feel like they are pushing to much at once and the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Disclaimer: if this http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/featured/mid-season-magic is only PART of the MYMU then please forgive me in that respect. You did say "... and how far we have to go ..." but I am not sure if that applies to the MYMU or League in general. By no means am I saying that league is not fixable or that any of the changes in this announcement are bad or stupid ideas, I am only expressing my concern about these changes not being well targeted or focused.

Disclaimer 2: I will ignore any comments that are people just flaming or being toxic. so dont expect answers. I will answer questions but im not spending my entire life arguing with u. If it gets to this point where i am going to stop responding to you I will type D2 (Disclaimer 2)

I downvoted you because raging about being downvoted is dumb and obnoxious.

OhWanderer2 votes

this is called a discussion board not an opinion board. You discuss topics not express your feelings.

Strawberrycocoa3 votes

Yeah I think all the angry/entitled/bitter/rant threads calling for nerfs to various things call bullshit on that statement.

Franky, if being downvoted bothers you so much that you feel the need to insist that people defend their disagreement with you, that's just sad. A downvote is just a simple "I don't like this", people are allowed to dislike your opinion without typing up a four paragraph essay on their reasoning behind it.

OhWanderer2 votes

you dont think about what you say do u? Just because everyone does it doesnt make it right, or its intended purpose, and if my insisting that people use this tool properly is sad then I have questions about your age that need addressing ( I dont actually care, but that is not the point ... just so were clear)

OhWanderer2 votes

D2 BTW ... this is a pointless immature argument, and I have made my point. if you dont understand it then that is not something I can effectively fix

Strawberrycocoa1 votes

Attacking my age is petty, small, and it betrays your own insecurities and prejudices. And calling my argument immature just because you are being disagreed with betrays your overblown sense of self-importance. It betrays the fact that you snort at anyone who thinks differently from you for being too stupid to understand or too unlearned to comprehend the subject matter.

Think Sheldon from Big Bang Theory. The kind of person who gets mad about people disagreeing with them and insists upon "calling them out" is a Sheldon; a person who is so convinced of their own perceived mental superiority that they must challenge everyone who disagrees with them to a verbal pissing contest to assert dominance over the "lesser minds".

People are going to disagree with you. Get over it.

Also, downvoting topics you don't like IS how this "tool" works. Nobody owes you a debate. You just can't stand not having the chance to show off how "smart" you are.

OhWanderer1 votes

Dude like seriously just stop LMAO. The fact that "attacking your age" causes you to write a rant where you go into a show i litterally care not at all about (havent watched it) and only further concerns me about your age. I am not getting made or upset or saying in ANY way that I am overly important. Do you understand how a debate o argument works? You pick a side and argue the facts about it, in many cases people will make good points and I will agree with them and further assert my point if they are missing it. I am not a cocky bastard like you are trying to say, so your immature attempts to offend me by referencing a dumb sit-com wont work.

D2 btw last time I am tired of your immaturity, I have explained it twice and it wont happen again.

Strawberrycocoa1 votes

Do you understand how a debate or argument works? You pick a side and argue the facts about it

There isn't really any facts to debate about when the subject of discussion is "We each think the other one is an ass". Just saying.

It's also funny to me how you criticize me for not debating the "facts" of the matter when your responses to my points have been to attack my age or perceived knowledgeability. Also how you attack my choice of a sitcom for an analogy instead of debating the analogy itself.

I look forward to reading you reply to me "for the final time" again.

I think the mages became infinitely more interesting than they've ever been. This mage update is probably the best so far; the Juggernauts sucked ass except for Darius (Mordekaiser went back to being a Mage, so he's excluded.); the Marksman Update was cancer with item changes and the mistake-champions given to us. Graves Quinn KogMaw Here's why I personally think this is a change for the better.

Brand is now even better at teamfighting if he gets his rotation off. The amount of pressure he can exert by raw damage in fights is going to be insane; his 1v1 power has been appropriately toned down.

Cassiopeia is less about hitting you with a million Es now, and more about using her whole kit in tandem. Her poisons aren't just a setup for her machine gun anymore, and feels more natural because of it. Only gripe is fixed range on her W feels awkward and clunky. Strong DPS mage with very good utility, and W regardless gives you VERY strong tools to stop mobility.

Malzahar is another strong contender for a DPS mage powerhouse. He exerts a lot of single-target damage and ability to spread his E around and keep it festering with Q and R refreshing it. His burst has gone down a LOT, and his DPS is now much harder-hitting with AD builds, which is my only concern at the moment. His lockdown is still there, and he's got an interesting safety mechanic in his passive that gives him a lot of strength against champions with one 'big moment' spell.

Vel'Koz didn't change too much, but he gets much more reward out of proccing his passive at least once before using his ultimate. It's clear they want to move him out of support entirely now that he has a ratio on his passive, but his damage is simply too high; he needs to have the base toned down to compensate. That said, he will have IMMENSE power if he procs his passive on even two people, striking them for insane amounts of true damage. He'll probably be able to decide teamfights just off of his passive alone.

Vladimir is going to be an AoE/sustain machine, though I worry he's a tad undertuned. He's probably my least favorite of the reworks, if only because I was expecting him to be much larger in scope. His binary nature hasn't seemed to have changed, but his new E and the sacrificial nature of it is very interesting. Most complaints for me are his Q's low numbers and his ultimate's invisible power.

Zyra has almost completely turned around for me. I hated her, now I'm actually very eager to learn her. The update has solidified her as a counter-engage monster, with strong AoE threat and a lot of ways to ruin an engage comp's day. The focus on plants is what makes it for me; she can have a TON of them out on the field at once, which gives her a lot of presence across a teamfight provided she gets the time to set-up.

I think even the smaller mage updates are very significant for me. Swain is EASILY going to become a god-tier champion with his new Q giving him strong waveclear and existing in two places at once, not to mention his R can hit 5 people now for ridiculous sustain in fights. Veigar's passive is going to give him more AP than he could have ever dreamed of, and his ultimate is going to give him monstrous tank-killing power with its execute property, on top of already being a delete button to any squishy that gets close to him. Fiddlesticks could've changed a little more, but I like the potential behind his new passive giving him speed boosts here and there for chasing and running away. Kennen's just a little bit more consistent, which is always appreciable.

The worst rework I think is Anivia. I hate her design and the ridiculous burst that comes with how much utility she has. I was very disappointed to see that she didn't change very much, and mostly just got buffs to her incredibly one-dimensional kit. Syndra is a close second, because she feels like she mostly got straight nerfed.

tl;dr I like the changes.

The marksman update probably showed the healthiest group of diversifying changes ever in league. It brought diversity to marksmen BEAUTIFULLY, the fact your complaining about how different they are confirms that. That said there are a few flaws, Quinn might have been better going a different direction and Graves might do awkward amounts of damage (KogMaw is weak early but great late game, he is hard to play but well balanced Imo)

  1. brand was already to much of a presence in team fights and the fact that you refered to his update as "Brand is now even better at teamfighting ...raw damage in fights is going to be insane" only continues to worry me.

  2. LITERALLY the only thing they changed on cass was E, she still feels (and is) effectively the same. They didnt fix anything

  3. malz didnt need a buff, his ult hurt enough already, they made it so he can do more damage by spawning more minions and he other wise feels the same. They didnt fix anything

  4. "Vel'Koz didn't change too much" (you said it not me) he literally didnt change at all except the way his ult works, and now its broken. They didnt fix anything.

  5. zyra, THEY LITERALLY COPPIED ILLAOI'S PASSIVE TO HER! That and changed the area of her Q. She still plays the same except she is a bit spam-y-er

  6. I am not worried about the smaller scale one that were actually what they said they were going to be, from what i saw they were interestingly effective enough.

Big Lincoln1 votes

The marksman update didn't bring diversity. We've been seeing almost nothing but Essence Reaver abusing champions, with Kog'Maw and Graves being outliers. Champions that primarily auto-attack have been a rarity. In addition, we have a champion with a ruined thematic (Quinn) and a handful that never see play. That update was cancer and arguably even worse than the Juggernauts just on how badly ADCs have been stifling other roles since it happened.

brand was already to much of a presence in team fights and the fact that you refered to his update as "Brand is now even better at teamfighting ...raw damage in fights is going to be insane" only continues to worry me.

Because his niche is going to be teamfights? He has less damage up front (read: he won't shit on people in lane), and the trade-off is he gets to be an AoE monster if he's allowed to land his abilities. His entire specialty is punishing you HARD for clumping up with his passive's explosions to set him off.

LITERALLY the only thing they changed on cass was E, she still feels (and is) effectively the same. They didnt fix anything

Her W changed massively, did you even look at the reworks? Her passive is different, too. Q is faster, and she's less reliant on an arbitrary stacking passive for her windows of power. Having an actual 6 item build is a humongous change, too. She is entirely unique based on kit changes alone; you pick her for aggressive DPS and anti-mobility without pure lockdown.

malz didnt need a buff, his ult hurt enough already, they made it so he can do more damage by spawning more minions and he other wise feels the same. They didnt fix anything

His burst is mediocre now. He's a DPS mage with the rework. He's not going to eat you alive in one rotation of spells unless you're just THAT squishy, but he's now very good at whittling down people steadily with his Voidlings. He serves as a great foil to Cassiopeia, because his kit makes him a strong pick against assassins with his passive and his strong lockdown, whereas she falters against people who can dive her before she has a chance to get going, Malzahar will likely struggle against other DPS champions when his ult is down but be great at surviving assassination attempts and countering them with his own damage.

"Vel'Koz didn't change too much" (you said it not me) he literally didnt change at all except the way his ult works, and now its broken. They didnt fix anything.

They even said Vel'Koz was incredibly low-scope on changes. What did you expect? He's now got the unique niche of the true-damage artillery mage. That's a unique strength over his competition, Lux and Xerath. He now has a reason to pick him (the point of the rework in the first place). They did what they wanted to do. Good changes, overall, if a little high on his numbers.

OhWanderer1 votes

just because everyone abuses essence reaver doesnt mean that its the only build path that is effective. I dont know what champions you are referring to when you say "Champions that primarily auto-attack have been a rarity." because jinx i see all the time and trist arguably has been a little sparse, but that is because she is over shadowed by the other intensive reworks. ADC's are way more effective at accomplishing their role than they were.

I see some nurfs for brand post release but his rework is justifiably okay.

I would need to play cass to see if her kit is even effective enough to justify calling it good to any degree

malz is the same as brand, some damage nurfs and he might be justifiably okay

"They even said Vel'Koz was incredibly low-scope" ... which is why I emphasize that he shouldnt have been a big 6. They split up big 6 and small scale changes for a reason. They could have easily done galio (or even ahri, her identity has changed so much and she is to foreign to old ahri players, they should have just took a good look at her and redefined her so she relates to her story more) in the big 6 instead. I think their arguments for them though were that they were too large scale.

EcchiOtakuTM2 votes

Meh only thing that's happening is galio getting guttered due to lost of athena, aside from that after the mage patch it's nerfable nothing so broken beyond being nerfed.

Although Zed better get a nerf once the patch drops since qss will no longer remove his ulti.

OhWanderer2 votes

well the thing is is that i dont think they effectively met thier goal. IMO mages dont seem to feel any different after this portion of the MYMU (as it did with the marksman update)

EcchiOtakuTM2 votes

Well Brand's goal was to emphasize his tank buster power and fix his ulti's RNG and E's lackluster feeling to use anywhere but as a combo starter but i feel that his abilities do too much damage in addition to it but after damage nerfs come they will have done their goal and make all of brand's ability worth using instead of only 1 combo done constantly, but again they need to just shave off quite a bit of damage.

Vel'koz was an attempt to make a mage ver. of MF it seems xD but I doubt they'll keep it as easy as it currently is to get deconstruction on someone maybe they'll increase the deconstruction amount to 4 or change vel's w to a normal ability instead of a charges ability once they just make it so you have to work for deconstruct a bit more their goal with vel will be perfect, although they might also have to lower damage per ulti tick but increase the duration to give a team a bit more time to stop the ulti.

Malz I love the rework keeps him with the same feel with more emphasis on voidlings without being overbearing, if anything is needed for him in the future it'll probably just be non-epic monster jungle camp not included in spawning more voidlings, although blue and red should stay included.

Zyra-wise just needs tweaks on release because her goal mostly fixing her to feel like a plant mage which it did but just needs a few tweaks to fit into the game damage-wise. Also everyone been wanted illaoi's passive as zyra's so it was a perfect way to do it. Zyra's passive finnally feels good, q is awesome to use and avoidable still plant ai feels responsive so far and most of the good parts stayed the same for a powerful counter engage mage.

Cassi's rework I havn't tried but I hope her new w isn't max range cast only...... Aside from that it looks a lot better for more fun building, and gives her more of a counter-mobility feel, but that all depends on if W is max range cast only or if you can choose what range you want.

Vladimir is suppose to be the sustain mage however feels like it takes way too long to actually get access to his sustain and his E should be a pass through-type projectile, having it be blocked by anything although it is much cooler than the old E feels like a nerf out of all the changes vlad was a nerfed rework.

Annie is great to emphasize tibbers more

Swain is amazing to FINNALLY spawn the bird at a location instead of from swain

Fid's is good however will probably have to see how he is live when teams use actual strategies before saying it's great/amazing

Zigg's change finnally fortifies him as an objective siege mage further which is amazing

Syndra's is great however it is a nerf to Q damage but a Q ratio increase of 0.05-0.1 would fix it to be amazing,

Xerath is finnally being fortified to be a damaging siege champion and feels more rewarding for taking the time to practice using his ulti

Anivia's changes I havn't tried but I feel as through there are some nerfs to anivia's E->R combo due to increase in E's projectile speed but have to actually see all the anivia changes written down and try it myself

Veigar feels like a stacking master of evil xD hopefully he isn't stacking in too much of a SHORT time

Item-wise they finnally gave better cdr options

However I have to see how the mana items are live, because I don't feel like i'm running out of mana but there's no real reason to go all out in pbe and there's a much different story told between what it looks like compared to feels like when it comes to live.

TL;DR: I still feel like galio is getting screwed over with the lost of athena's though. However aside from obvious nerfs they will come in the future I feel that design-wise they each met their different playstyle goal, brand is a tank buster(until a nerf comes everything-buster actually). Vel'koz is more of a wombo combo mage(which is great but feels like deconstruction is too simple to get), Malz has more emphasize on voidlings however is more of a bruiser mage to get all up in their(actually bit like graves just not as overbearing). Zyra actually feels like a plant mage and stays as a counter-engage mage, although again damage needs a tad shaving. Cassi will be an anti-mobility mage, however hopefully her W isn't maxrange cast only. Vlad stays as the sustain mage, but seriously needs more immediate sustain. and the minor updates/items feel good.

Feels really fun to choose a mage and dedicated mage fans can keep their champs.

OhWanderer2 votes

I agree with basically everything here.

I guess im just disappointed that they havent (yet I hear these arent all the changes) touched on any of the mages I actually play. The messed around with Ahri around the jugg update and ruined her Imo (i think a good analogy would be quinn during her update)

EcchiOtakuTM1 votes

Just wish they never removed ahri's knockdown on charm was a really good mechanic for her especially when mastered, now she just feels so less rewarding to face or even play personally :/

OhWanderer2 votes

ya i liked spell vamp ahri before ludens

Solice2 votes

I'm sad to see these down votes when everything you said is true. Really, they buff/nerf/kill the wrong champs and items, and also don't focus on main problems people complain about and that are actually a real problem in the game. You get my up vote, I don't understand this community

OhWanderer1 votes

thanks <3

Malix Farwin2 votes

My problem with the mage update is that assassins and AD champions will still be better then mages mid because they have better sustain, less reliant then burst, and MR with damage is easy to come by for them item 3156 + item 3139 and AP no longer relevant to you for the rest of the game as well as still giving AD a damage boost. So at best AP mages will be like a secondary support role.

OhWanderer1 votes

yes, I agree they havent really fixed anything.
