Non-mage, non-adc champions need better lane runes than Comet-scorch or Klepto-hourglass
Seriously. Champions like GP, Sion and Camille are doing overly well with a playstyle that noone except bandwagon-jumpers enjoy.
Personally I play Sion. I used to play him as support a lot. Grab a full AD runepage. Spec Masteries for tankyness and mana sustain and use his high innate sustain and some bush control to land a solid Q. There is no current way to get that early AD/damage without taking 2 damage runepages. He's not a jungler, nor does he have any dashes except his ult (which doesn't even activate Sudden Impact) so speccing Domination is kinda bad. So you are stuck with Sorcery. And Sorcery naturally leads to grabbing Comet-Scorch and poke people by minion-bowling. The damage is much higher and it's safer.
Before, you would E to slow, then charge up W for dmg or to mitigate return dmg, while you charge Q against a slowed target. Land the knockup, walk up for an auto attack or two, burst your W and walk out. A nice rotation, that doesn't always work, exposes you to a jungle gank, deals decent damage, and costs a fair bit of mana. But it usually chunked them for more than their sustain mitigated.
Now, you just E from a safe distance till they are low because you are mostly working around the cooldowns of comet and scorch to deal quite a bit of dmg for relatively low mana because they increase efficiency. And you are now no longer forced into longer engages. Which is good, because you won't want longer engages because base tank stats are down so he takes far too much dmg in trades. Something his shield and scaling armor/mr runes would mitigate previously so you could commit a bit to a great engage. Not to mention the mastery that increased your %health stat. So you poke like a mage or adc. As a tank. Because it works.
But it suuuuucks. It's no fun. For anyone. I'm not enjoying myself playing like that, but it's meta. Most Effective Tactic Available. It's exactly what we dreaded when the runes were announced. That certain runes would be overly good, and force entire playstyles and champion-build to be changed to work around it because nothing else is as good or reliable.
(I called out non-mage and non-adc, because I think their lane-runes are actually good)
