Tips On The Climb (To Silver+)
So I would say by now I am a pretty good player, so I have some tips for players looking to get out of bronze. Now a couple of days ago I spent some time ranking up a bronze account, so I noticed a few big differences from what I have seen in gold and platinum and what I have seen watching high elo players. These things are;
Map Awareness Decision Making CS Attitude Mechanics
So to start off you have to look at the map. Too often would I see the mid laner/top laner being ganked and not too far away would be the jungler taking a camp or even backing. Now I am sure they'd help the laners, but they have to see them in the first place. LOOK AT YOUR MAP.
Now we are on the topic of decision making. Go for objectives over chasing kills. If there is the enemy Amumu running with 80% HP, don't spend your time chasing him. If there is an enemy running deep in their jungle give up the chase unless you are sure you can fight their team, because most likely that guy running is pinging for help/running to his team. If the enemies are dead take towers, dragon, or baron. If you want baron make sure that you have a numbers advantage by killing one of the enemies. If you want to sneak baron pink it and make sure you have enough damage to burst it down. Lastly, if your team calls a play, and you don't think its right, still fully commit, you never know, maybe you could have won that team fight, maybe you could've helped kill baron fast enough for your team to get out. The only time you don't commit is when its something that doesn't involve your whole team, and won't have the potential to lose the game. As an example, in higher elos people know when their teammate is fucked, and so does that teammate, but in bronze people will die trying to save one person. As for the opposite make sure to help your teammates when you can.
For CS there isn't much I can say, practice, practice, practice. One tip I do have is get a feel for how much your auto attack does, and when you see the minions health bar drop low enough auto attack it. Also make sure not to trade CS for harass on the enemy, you are basically sacrificing gold for HP on their health bar, which can be regenerated, healed, or restored by backing, plus you can harass after you CS, there is no reason to give up that gold.
Attitude is a big thing. Relax, its a game. Too often would the enemy team type "GG" or "report X laner (who fed the shit out of me)" , its just a game, and getting mad doesn't help you play better, raging doesn't help your team, if you stay positive you will increase the chance of your team staying positive and in return playing better, which means you are more likely to win. Just to make this clear though, don't use chat if you don't have anything good to say, and mute people that are trying to start fights.
Mechanics I put last because all of the other things are far more important. You could literally climb to challenger playing simple champions like Annie, so there is proof you don't need complex and trained mechanics, however mechanics are important. I can't give you mechanics in a post, but I can give you an idea of how to get them. Practice, practice, practice, and review, review, review. You need to reflect on what you could do better in situations. If you do this the next time you get there you will execute better. For instance, if I am playing Yasuo I may know after taking a skill shot to the face that I should be faster to throw out my wind wall, and next time I will do so. If I am playing Annie against a Vayne who ulted I may want to use my Q for a stun rather than my ultimate since my Q is targeted and I may miss Vayne if she tumbles and I ult.
So it may not be the best post, but hopefully it helps one bronze person looking to make it to silver before the end of the season.
