RIOT can we discuss the current state and direction of Nidalee? Please?
The preseason is coming up and well Nidalee really isn't in the best of spots right now. Sure she's annoying and a pain in the ass for a lot of people to deal with but in her current state she has to be. You've left her with little wiggle room and put her in a feast or famine situation. Her damage is above average but her durability is that of wet toilet paper. You solution to balancing her has been to just hack off bits of her kit of to hit base stats and none of those have been the problem.
Nidalee has several problems balance wise and it effects both players ability to play against her and her ability to play against other players.
I'm not going to ask for buffs I'm going to ask for you to do your job and actually balance her instead of nerfing her to a state where you don't have to pay attention to her. Other champions get a small nerf here and there to bump them down ever so slightly but with Nidalee it's always a series of debilitating nerfs. Not debilitating to the point that she's unplayable but rather to the point where you can't do that thing you were able to do now. It's almost quite literally like each patch you are taking a cat and removing a claw each time because it's scratching the furniture rather than getting the damn cat a scratching post. Fix the problem rather than finding a way to ignore it.
I'm just going to list a bunch of suggestions and let you all give feedback on them.
General solution(because I want you to draw your own conclusions first):
-
Revert all changes to Nidalee post 4.11 (Pounce chages from 4.17 and changes from 5.2 should stay)
-
Aspect of the Cougar - Reduce early base damages and rescale the later levels accordingly.(Takedown should have 0 Rank 1 base damage)
-
Javelin Toss: It's not just about damage but the passive mark it applies too.
- Increase Javelin Toss cooldown early game and have it come down with ranks in the skill(10-6 seconds instead of flat 6 seems good)
- Reduce Javelin Toss Distance base scaling from 300% to 200%
- Increase Base damage and AP ratio to compensate for lost distance scaling(Max AP ratio should remain the same but Max base damage should come down)
- Increase projectile speed slightly or increase hitbox size slightly( 1300 to 1500 speed or 40 to 60 size seems good (Pre-rework it had 120 size))
- Javelin Toss particle should start to glow brighter and brighter until it reaches max damage revealing it in FoW all only after leaving basic attack range.
-
Takedown: This is Nidalee's Primary damage skill and should exceed the damage potential of Javelin Toss even if that means bringing down the damage of Javelins to do that.
- Reduce and rescale base damage values - Rank 1 should have 0 base damage and rely soley on Nidalee's AD and AP.
- Add a mist particle to Nidalee's cougar model that glows while takedown is active and gains brightness the lower nearby enemies hp is. You will see the particle but enemies would only see it based on their current health. Also place a jaw maker below targets that would take fatal damage from takedown just Like Cho's ult but let everyone see it not just Nidalee.
- Increase the base AD ratio back to it's original amount(100% not 75% which makes her deal less damage than a normal basic attack).
- bump the ap ratio up a pinch(40% instead of 36%)
- Reduce the %HP scaling from 250% to 200%
- Scale the hunt damage with level or ranks in R (something like 10% +5% every other level or 20/30/40/50% per rank in R)
- Reduce and rescale base damage values - Rank 1 should have 0 base damage and rely soley on Nidalee's AD and AP.
-
Bushwhack: Needs to have some sort of impact for stepping on it besides applying hunt but can't be too strong.
- Maintain the current HP shred but reduce the amount and give AP scaling to the flat and %HP damage.
-
Swipe - Give it some sort of empowered effect
Additional suggestions: Since some of these are aimed at bringing her power down in some areas and pushing them up in others I do have some minor suggestions.
-
Hunt should grant true sight at all times. Currently it only reveals stealth if they trigger while stealth but doesn't continue if they are transitioning to stealth.
-
Mix bushwhack scalings up. Give the HP shred and flat damage opposite stat scalings( one scales with AP and the other with AD)
-
In the chaos of fighting landing marks can be extremely difficult and Nidalee's mechanics hold her back as the game goes on and against mobile champions. While buffed by Primal surge apply basic attacks to apply Hunt after 3 consecutive attacks.
This is a hell of a lot of suggestions but that's why I'm suggesting it for preseason. Fix the problem rather than finding a way to ignore it.
