When is Exhaust's damage reduction applied?

If Veigar ults me and I exhaust him mid-projectile, will it be reduced? What If I exhaust him as he's casting his ult and it wears off as it hits?

one would say its safe to assume any damage after you have exhausted ... if the damage has already been commanded before you exhaust them then that wouldnt reduce that damage because that command was processed /executed before you exhausted

it will be reduced

how so? the command for that ability was before the command of exhaust ... therefore that damage shouldnt be reduced only on the ability commanded after the exhaust as commanded

from what i know is that damage is calculated the moment it applies.

you can also skill up abilities mid air.

yet if you already cast that ability and as it is being commanded and then you skill up the scaling damage inst applied on the command that is already a projectile because that projectile was casted at the lower level

the server begins the damage calculation first when the projectile actually hits. the projectile itself has no damage value that gets applied on cast.

never tried it but heard it often that it works this way.

lol my adc had around 110 health left or something like that. if jinx ult wouldnt have killed, which scales on missing health and ad, and jinx had a bf sword, then when did jinxs ult get nerfed.

the damage is calculated when it hits you. you can exhaust someone when they cast the ability the damage will be reduced ive done it hundreds of times. i exhaust jinx right after she ulted and my adc lived because of it. like on 15 health or something like that

but you have no way to know for sure or not she would of lived with out the exhaust.. or if it did apply and reduce the damage

everything is reduced before it hits you obviously as long as it isn't true damage that is never reduced

Yes. Exhaust almost always reduces damage the INSTANT it is applied. Pretty sure it even fucks with ignite.

And yea, you can totes Skill up abilities while they are mid-delivery. Zilean early game is fun because of this.

'ignite is true damage, so it can't be reduced. Other than that, you are correct on everything else :)

But what if Exhaust ends before the projectile hits? The projectile was cast during Exhausts duration.

I'm freaking out, this is pretty important because I'm planning on grabbing Exhaust in the midlane from now on to prevent all ins. And I really don't want to find out by facing the gray screen.

Casting before exhaust is cast will still apply the damage reduction.

For example, you can exhaust Yasuo mid-ult and he will end up dealing so much less damage. Also works on Zed and champs with delayed damage-dealing.

Or put it this way, if exhaust is active, damage will be lowered regardless cast.
