I know this is really stupid, but...

...What if summoner spells worked a different way? What if they were chosen through the in-game shop, and gave you ONE spell at level 1, and then give you access to your second choice a few levels later (like level 5 or something). I can already think of one or two no-nos that may come with something like that (I can already see everyone choosing flash first anyway, except junglers who are forced into smite), but I mean... something in place that would force people to have to choose based on how they want to play the early game lane. Aggressive ignite? Map-roaming Teleport? Escape/engage flash? Sustain heal?

It would require a.lot of rework. But would be nice

Actually a pretty good idea...

I like this idea. If nothing else, it removes some of the stress tied to having a whole in-game loadout ready for your champion before the game even starts, and would avoid some of the frustration tied to having the wrong setup (e.g. jungling with no Smite). I also feel runes and summoner spells aren't actually all that different from items and the passives/actives they offer (summoner spells are just really powerful actives), so rolling spells into itemization or some equivalent I think would make sense.

If there are two potential concerns I have, it's that currently part of the game's strategy is tied to knowing which spells your enemy has at loading time (so that you can guess where they're going and plan appropriately), and part of the game's design is heavily dependent on everyone taking Flash. Changing both of these would disrupt the metagame as we know it, and likely force a lot of balance or even design work. I don't think either is necessarily a bad thing, as I personally think summoner spells do need a significant rework, but it definitely complicates what would otherwise be a fairly simple suggestion on paper.

The idea concerns me to be honest. It would break the lvl 1 jungle in almost every elo. All we have to do is draft a braum, thresh, or blitz with a pantheon or some other such jungler and invade the enemy flashless jungle, because they had to take smite. I Can't see this idea bringing anything healthy to the game. Imobile champions WILL get boddied by the hyper mobile way more, and just fall out of the meta. Ezreal would be top tier again, and hell, maybe even Kalista would see some play.
