Riot began with a look at Dota. It's time to take another (look).

As some people may know, Riot created League and took some inspiration from Valve's game Dota. After all, Dota is the big brother to all MOBA's.

At this point Riot has lost their way in my opinion. I say the solution is to look at Dota again because when I occasionally play Dota, the games last as long as they are projected to, and a lot of the time longer. Games of Dota (that I play) are 40 minutes to an hour. People still snowball hard too. But the reason why games end slowly is because items cost a butt-ton of gold. There is also another tier of items, with those final-tier ones having enough importance to make them a necessity (sometimes).

Also on another point, crit chance between items and passive abilities doesn't stack, but the damage multiplier is higher, so there is a bigger risk-reward aspect in it.

DISCLAIMER FOR RIOT: THIS DOES NOT MEAN REMOVE MMR MATCHMAKING IN NORMS!

DotA, the original one, did not belong to Valve. Valve owns DotA 2, which is a recreation of the original, rather than League which only took inspiration from it.

Well Dota was a mod for Blizzards game Warcraft III not Valve same for the one from Starcraft.

I dont want my games to be any longer or more stressful than they already are, league is already an exercise, and test, in bothc time management, and dedication, 40 min games just arent what anyone REALLY wants.

I'd disagree. I miss longer games.

The original DotA is a mod/custom-map on Blizzard's RTS game Warcraft 3, which the mod was inspired by another mod/custom-map called the AoS (Aeon of Strife) back on the original Starcraft.

The developer of League of Legends, while not the founder of the DotA mod (the mod went through many designers/pseudo-owners to continue its development over the years), they were for a time its lead developers before going off to make League based on the mod (DotA) that they were involved in.

Icefrog was initially recruited by Guinsoo, the current lead developer of League, to help developing the original DotA when the latter was still developing the DotA mod before he had left to create LoL. Eventually, after a few changing hands, Icefrog became the last and sole designer of DotA. It was rumoured that Icefrog attempted to reach Blizzard (the owner of the base game, WC3, in which DotA is based in) to create DotA as a standalone game, but Blizzard was shown to be uninterested in the proposal and basically refused it. Icefrog was later contacted by Valve to create Dota2, given Valve was interested in the mod's future, and Icefrog happily accepted and helped Valve to make Dota2 which it now owns the rights to (only Dota2 I believe).

But all of those above is besides the point.

I otherwise see the message you're trying to come across regarding game time and crits, which I support to much extent.

Shorter games are better overall.
