getting teamed up with the same teammates?

Just wondering how I can get teamed up with the same teammates occasionally when there are literally 100,000 plus people playing it every day? It just does not make too much sense. Not complaining or anything, but just curious. Kinda like asking why's sky blue?

because matchmaking involves a hidden mmr that tries to match people who have the same/close mmrs and create teams with the same average games would be boring and unfun if it were completely random with diamonds vs silvers etc
